Because Farke doesn't want to guarantee any player minutes on the pitch. Every player has to fight for his place - loaning clubs do not want their players sitting on the bench as unused substitutes game after game.

We are between a rock and a hard place - we need decent players to get us inti the premiership, knowing that we'd probably want better players to replace them if we do get promoted.

Commiserations on your seemingly never ending relegation clauses.

I actually believe £40m for Rutter is not bad business on your part. Not quite sure why Brighton have paid that much for him.

Of course the problem is in your current context - with this sale you have lost too much of a squad core from last season IMO.

I expect you to really sign some top quality championship level players now. Jack Clarke might not be a bad start, a proper 10 is very necessary.

I no longer think you are favorites to win the league, which might work in your favor.

I'm not fussed he's going. We overpaid for what we got. I never thought we'd get our money back. Take the money and run.

    Tin hat at the ready.

I agree. I'm astounded we made a profit on him.

My concern I'd that we've let Gray, Summerville AND Rutter go. We've replaced Gray with Bogle which I'm okay with. We've not replaced Summerville yet and I'm worried about replacing Rutter.

Individuals leaving is fine. Letting ALL those goals and assists and dynamics leave is a worry.

It's not impossible but recruitment has to be bang on and it rarely is....at any club.

I been chatting to my brother about this tonight,
The last word was with the player,
He engineered the move via his agent, last minute release clause deadline etc.
The kid is a ****, his career will be like KPs only without the medals.

He did though ask to be included against Boro when most would have been too afraid of injury, it also cup tied him.

If I were in Rutters boots.

Play in the best league in the world
Coached by the useless twat Farke who says I’m not a 10 then changes mind
Big pay rise (why did we wait for Brighton to trigger release clause before offering)
Watching Gray, Summerville sold and delays in strengthening
Getting piss bored whilst my team mate defenders pass back and forth 101 times with Farke Ball

Good move for him, well run club where he’ll get game time, established PL club, South Coast, decent coach, I don’t blame him.

I was critical of Rutter back end of last season, only seemed to want to pass to Summerville even when better options were on, not sure if that was following instructions or just his decision. He constantly lost the ball putting us under pressure time and time again. If I'm honest, and it's not sour grapes, I think it will be a couple of seasons before he's ready for the PL and will take some coaching too. He's got bags of natural talent it just needs nurturing. So I think to get £40m for him is good business, the annoying part is, we're not replacing these players and you can feel the Kinnear spin coming our way any day now.

spot on with rutter. Lovely lad, Bundles of talent, game changer, but complete liability at times. In our position we don’t have room for potential. We’re better with lower class talents that are 7/8 out of 10 every week.

    shane we don’t have them

yeh it’s the volume of talent not the individuals that leaves a gaping hole.

One thing Ristac missed in his reasons to go Brighton: anyone remember being physically sick at seeing Rutter in his pink puffer coat and matching man bag? Yep gay capital down there. <laugh>

Seems he’s had his medical and to be announced as soon as today. Florian Pletenberg says total fee of £42.5m with Hoffenhiem receiving up to £5.5m. So assuming Gessas numbers are correct we will be making not far short of £10m profit overall

Trying to be positive before the start of last season we would of taken half of that. We will miss his creative flair which is massive. but, he couldn't score in a brothel. We have to move on. in the back of our minds we all knew the bigger guns of the squad when asked the question would bolt and its happened just the timing of it all is just wrong. this transfer window should really be looked into and it should be moved and shut before a season starts. it causes mayhem to teams that can't compete with the big fish. for some reason transfers kick off in the last month when the season starts its not fair on the lower teams getting raped of their better players when a season is underway. it also causes panic buying a situation we are in right now and that shouldn't be the case my personal view anyway.

    From The Athletic

"At Elland Road, there was a difference of opinion about how the transfer might be structured.

Andrea Radrizzani, Leeds’ then chairman, had floated the idea of taking Rutter on loan with an obligation to sign him permanently.

As it was January, any obligation would be set for the end of the season (and, presumably, dependent on Leeds surviving in the Premier League). But Radrizzani was in his final throes as majority shareholder and 49ers Enterprises, the minority group poised to buy him out, was not inclined to kick a long-term move — or responsibility for Rutter’s fee — down the road. Radrizzani might be gone by then. The Americans insisted the loan option was shelved and a permanent deal be completed immediately."

So dose anyone belive that the 49ers did'nt know about the clause in his contract? Dose anyone belive that the 49ers did not know about anything in any contract?
I mean they have been shareholder in Leeds since 2018 (15%), got 44% in 2021 and bought the lot in 2023. Ofcause they did, they knew everything. They were in on it. Unless they are the dumbest busienss men in the history of the wold.
They now have to get 5 signings in the door before the window closes. And it has to be quality.

It’s just a very bizarre release clause. Why would it run out at midnight on the 14th August 18 months into his contract so it must have been there from the moment he signed. Secondly, who alerted Brighton to the release cause? Did the club cash in (in which case why offer the new contract, if that really happened) or was it the player/agent (which would make him just another rat in my eyes). Anyway, they had a good result against Everton today so he’d better get ready for splinters in his arse.

It was there last season too, just nobody wanted him for that kind of money. Theory is the date gives us time in the market, it can’t be activated when it’s too late to replace.

Agents would have alerted interested parties, the agent doing their job in earning their player more money and a healthy slice themselves

PR is there for a reason and sadly I cannot believe a word that comes out. Archie was told not to return to training and they didn't want him back. He was desperate to stay but once he thought he was going to be frozen out he signed plus it was nearing the midnight deadline.

Question, if he had no release clause and brighton offered 25m the club could say no but then the player puts in a transfer request and the club have to sell?
