Yeah they aren’t going to overtake a PL teams revenue, but if they are earning more and there is this central pot than that can only be a good thing Hopefully you’re right about it being easier to get money into Turkish teams (maybe why everyone is going there and none to the French team) and we are getting extra revenue that way, aswell as potentially using it as a way to get players to develop and sell
Regardless of details the whole multi club just seems wrong to me. Really hope it's banned soon. For any which isn't the biggest in the group your entire existence ends up being based around how you can benefit said biggest club. Not to mention your chances of success are hugely related to how that club performs; whether or not we're relegated this season has a knock on effect to how Goztepe csn operate which is just complete bollocks. I'd even go as far as saying it reduces the smallest clubs identities as your primary purpose isn't about yourself.
If they just get sent straight to Goztepe and we get no loan fee then it is a bit of a piss take. I think people are being a little over reactionary with the Goztepe stuff but with us paying 900k for a player to go there a few months early, and now this, I think it is right to start asking questions.
Yeah, I agree about more revenue for them. But it wouldn't make sense to harm Southampton's chances of staying in the PL by subsidising the other clubs. Again, I have no idea if that's actually happening.
I guess we may find out in the future, or we may not. I’m sure there will be someone sad enough to work it out when accounts are released
You can just see it though, now Rasmus has been given Goztepe to look after - "look at what a genius I am" has always been more important than the vessel.
Well at the moment we have a Japanese player on loan with them who potentially is intended for us one day. Perhaps not much of a benefit if he doesn’t turn out to be up to it. Clutching at straws a bit !
That 900k thing hasn’t happened yet so I will wait until it does to get annoyed. But this very much does look like players for Goztepe instead of cash we need and seem to quickly prove me wrong from the points I was making above. Who knows really.
Like I say, if feels very Rasmus. He’s the worst kind of bellend. The Elon Musk of football. “Never mind the results, just feel my genius at work”. I always remember him saying “if it’s working, break it”, which marked him out as a turbocharged twat to me.
Ah I thought that had gone through - perhaps I was thinking of the 2 Japanese lads rather than 2 Brazilians. If we are loaning then young players to develop then I can see how that benefits both. But if we are taking reduced fees to get them players, as is rumoured here and with Onuachu, then that doesn't seem right. As you say though, it's not actually happened yet.
Vitor Hugo is very highly rated and plays the same position as Charley so maybe some cash and immediate replacement
I couldn’t even find the RB from a search so seems to still be in the youth team. Surely a work permit would be a struggle so not an immediate replacement?
U21 players find it easier to get work permits if they show “potential” which any player signing for a PL team could be argued have shown Anyway I doubt any of this happens as I don’t think Charley will want a move back to South America
