We do a lot of medicals in London. Pretty sure we also have an office of sorts in London for meeting with agents.
https://www.si.com/soccer/sunderlan...ats-taking-big-risk-to-bring-mendy-price-down The hope on Wearside is that Mendy’s determination to move to Sunderland will eventually lower Caen’s demands. They are willing to go higher, but won’t go near Caen’s asking price, at least not yet. Sunderland believe time pressure caused by the ticking clock of the transfer deadline will break Caen’s resolve and result in a price somewhere in the £2m-£2.5m range. That is the reason progress appears to be so slow, as it’s essentially waiting for the right moment to get the player for the money they want to pay for him, but it’s obviously a very risky strategy too. Meanwhile, Sunderland also hope to land a second striker this summer, although it’s unlikely to be a name that especially excites supporters. The club are looking at a number of Premier League loans, which will inevitably mean a younger player.
My opinion to the above is it's very risky but I agree I wouldn't pay more than 2.5-3m for him. I just think we should have other targets we are working on, seems a big risk but who knows
He was so close to very good the lad to be fair. Some great touches and link up play. Couldn’t finish a mini egg sadly.
Okay at Keeper. If we consider Alese at centre half then him, O’Nien, Ballard, Seelt and Triantis is about as good as it’s ever likely to be in this division. Huggins injured and Pembele looking to be away means we definitely need RB competition. If Alese is a CB we definitely also need LB competition. Anderson out permanently and potentially loans for Hjelde and Johnson. Midfield is just about adequate with Neil, Browne and Jobe as first choice with Ekwah, Rigg and Aouchiche as competition. I’d actually like one more that’s more defensively minded. Roberts, Clarke, Mundle and Poveda looks pretty good. Possibly loans for Bennette and Ba? Mayenda and Rusyn are currently just about adequate subs. Need two Centre forwards. Hemir out on loan. So ideally five in, five out.
He had the odd moment when he looked immense. Genuinely some of the best link up play I’ve seen. Was just no consistency in it. Very nearly very good.
Why chase someone all summer to switch targets over the sake of an extra £1m at this stage of the window? Sorry like but £1m is absolutely f*ck all to us and to potentially miss out on your top target to try and barter for that little is just wild.
