There is an interesting snag in Chelsea’s long contracts for PSR thing - it keeps the amortised value of players they spend fees on but want to sell higher and therefore they need a higher fee to make the profit they would like - and it seems that many teams aren’t interested. For example Datro Fofana (another FM legend). They apparently can’t sell him (for the fee they would want). I expect that applies to many players. Especially when you consider the absurd fees they are asking for the 100% accounting profit players
Even worse news for ABK potentially. Let's put this into a bit of perspective here. He could have a life threatening condition so the potential collapse of the transfer takes a back seat.
Or this is good news for him as he can now plan for that condition rather than having it sneak up on him! Hopefully the fact Eriksen came back from this kind of thing will help.
Does make you wonder how it wouldn’t have been picked up before now unless it’s quite new. Because he would have had a PSV medical and I assume all existing players get one every season
RM: "We have to do it [the transfer market] in our own means and make sure we're sustainable. I knew that when I signed a new contract, so it's not like I'm sitting here frustrated. I'm relaxed about it because I think we will end up doing business that we're quite happy with."
Surprised not more clubs have been rumoured to be interested in signing Sammie Szmodics. Only links seem to be with Ipswich.
When you don't allow yourself to get sucked into the £25mil+ annual Southampton transfer saga, your quality of life because a lot stronger. We have to uncover a few more gems that we can sell for big bucks before we can make these statement signings. Unfortunately we don't have any to sell at the moment. I believe the club can find what we need to give us a good chance at staying up, without risking FFP ****ery further down the line. It's frustrating having to work within parameters, especially when it feels like so many clubs are ignoring them, but that's the reality. Personally I love the obscure/cheaper signings, and I think that's our bread and butter. The big expensive ones give me anxiety. Looking at you TP and Sulemana.
Maybe our race was TP/ABK sale depending or influenced? Atalanta themselves waiting for the sale of Koopmieners until meeting Celtic's valuation.
So Liverpool would buy him next season but Valencia would loan him this year? Sounds a way round the loan rules which shouldn’t be allowed
On the flip side - if he gets an injury like Baz then I assume they are committed to sign him regardless But it does seem like these rules just need to be jettisoned now. Or smarter people than they currently have need to be working on closing the loopholes.
Yay. So we'll sign a 16 year old for the "future" and no striker. Go Sports Republic. What a bunch of lads, we're so lucky they're our owners
