I thought we were on top of the game in the first half with the usual problem of being toothless in front of goal. Their 5 substitutions all at the same time rattled us and we were all over the place when they scored. We seemed to be slowly getting back into the game right at the end but ran out of time. The same problems are still there - we haven’t got anyone to stick the ball in the net.
I think at the moment it's a joke, different names, early days, we still look an average, middle of the table bunch, of course we've still got a couple of pieces of the jigsaw missing but a year of angiush, changes, promises, a joke of a leader with Junior and where are we, I honestly don't know, doubts are creeping in.
That was shocking last night-need a massive improvement against Millwall- i said ten games reckon i know after 5 games.
We played well against Hull just a bit of stupidity from Williams we’d have 3 points on the board. obviously we lack quality in the final third, despite my issues with Manning and hating the play style he deserves time to sort it. But obviously the difference in opinion between owners and fans is night and day, how they keep saying nonsense about us being top 6 is delusional. We are solid in defence that’s pretty much it and will remain a mid table team. Fally and Armstrong do look good I will say.
'Creating clear cut chances'...........we haven't. 'and taking them remain an issue'......... How do you know, we don't create. Commenting on Manningball has nothing to do with any previous manager. TBC I'm all for giving LM my backing. I don't like his brand, or for that matter the modern possession game. You've told me before, it's my age. Anyway, the problem is we have journeyman......as someone else wrote, 'we shop in Lidls'. Making today's game successful, players who go past the 'gain line' are needed........or at least move the ball quicker and forward. Sadly we seem to be lacking. The Japanese winger and should Twine ever join might well help. Supcon, for now I'm dreading the Millwall watch this weekend...... but live in hope. Like we all do.
I didn’t see the Coventry match But I watched the Hull game and I thought we looked quick and eager and for large parts of the game we were well on top Lack of clear cut chances cost us dearly in the end with the unnecessary challenge that led to their penalty Had we got a second goal it would have been game over, but as per usual we shot ourselves in the foot A positive performance on Saturday would help but who knows what we’ll get ! I suspect another ‘Coventry’ will get the natives very restless
I think a lot of us are getting very jaded when it comes down to what we can expect from Bristol City and after all these years you would tend to believe that we should be way better than what seems on the cards based on only two matches. The usual cracks appear season after season and we look as if we may very well travel the same route again with sub-par performances from individuals and the team as a group which leave us wondering when if ever will we come close to being a competitive squad able to vie for a top six spot in the table? Some of this season's additions appear to have hit the ground running whereas some of the old brigade are not meeting the required standard expected if want to improve our lot in the Championship. I know it is still early days yet and I hope we can win at home against Millwall but I suspect we will come up with our usual lacklustre form at home again and get away with a draw which could send the backsides in the seats asking the annual question of why?
We lost to an Ellis Simms goal. We always concede against him. I was there last night, and don’t seem as gloom and doom like a lot on here. I thought we looked good in the first half and liked Wells and Fally linking up play. Where we struggle is out wide, plenty of times it went out wide and no pass good enough from the wide players. Yu will address one side but I still have concerns with the other side. George Earthy may be the answer there. But for now he will play behind a forward IMO. One mistake made was putting on Cornick for Bell, but looking at the team put out you can see it was treated as a game for fringe players and in players like Hayden Roberts who was injured during pre season a game to get fitter. We took Knight off for Williams at half time when in my opinion TGH was having a shocker trying to spray out passes going nowhere, and seemed to lose the midfield. They then put five players on at the same time and we had a bad 20 minute spell, but come end of game we were looking the more likely to do something. Armstrong was brought down in front of me and can’t see why the foul went against him let alone why he was booked. We will go Knight and Bird midfield on Saturday with Dickie, Pring also back. Final bit, he looked a little lost when he first came on, but I really like the look at Stokes and maybe not this season but think we may have a great player there.
