Originally joined Not606 and then moved onto here in Jan 2011, with the likes of Cyprussyd, Big Chris etc etc. Never met anyone but have been close a few times but have had some great interactions from best time to get to meet the players with my lad to great films/TV series to the Friday music thread. I have a great time and love the close knit camaraderie and of course us all wanting Sunderland to do well. Keep it going lads!!!
Been on here since 2011 after the BBC closed but I tend to frequent the R White thread where I love seeing the various warped minds revealing their sense of humour (particularly you gil). There's a real camaraderie where everyone is willing to give help, advice and support and very few judge. The information I've gleaned over the years about our club and it's history plus the talk about the places I grew up keeps me close to home. On here every day and long may we continue. I tend to be a happy clapper, so would attract a lot of flack, just love supporting the lads both feast and famine time and can't be negative because nobody connected to the club would deliberately undermine us. Anyway ramble over. OAU Season ticket ready for Sunday.
Only been on here for a short time but really find that this place keeps me connected to my club. I am a glass half full kind of guy and constant negativity with no thought or context really annoys me. However a well thought out and structured negative view is very welcome and can produce good debate and open discussion. Think I can rant on a bit, but I really enjoy reading other people's views even if I don't always agree. I have never met anybody from this forum but even so I have still had help in getting tickets for matches etc which I find amazing. It's 02:15 in the morning here in Karratha and I am up ready for the match before I go to work for a few hours then get my flight back to Perth this afternoon for my week off. Being a Sunderland fan is a bit of an addiction
Couldn't tell you when I joined. BBC was before this and I vividly remember good times on there. Rams fan 66 I remember him from Derby! It was a great format and I remember a one minute clock where you couldn't post one after another.
Came on a free transfer in 2011. Not the most prolific in posting but have always enjoyed being here. Great way to keep up with Safc news, and mucho gratitude to those who tend to be up to date and take the trouble to post info on here . Some people think a football forum should be football only, fair enough, but I am in the pro ''Off Topic'' camp and have said before that I am sometimes amazed at the wealth of information, experience , and humour these bring about. For a bunch of daft lads, dare I say there is a plethora of intelligence and wisdom !! Only downside is the occasional one on one spats which take over a thread-- they should move over to direct message if no one else is involved or interested.
I'm like that too, I don't like repeating myself or what someone else has said so if there's no news to speak of or no games I'll often take a backseat. Some threads turn into the same people saying the same thing over and over again, each to their own I suppose. I'm not sure what triggered it but at some point relatively recently there was a load of people came over from RTG to here, it changed this site from a quiet country pub vibe to a city centre bar. The more the merrier as far as I'm concerned.
I was briefly on the BBC606 site under another name and when that folded I went to another 606 phoenix site but it only had about 3 people posting. I watched this site for several years before joining in 2015. Never been on RTG; it sounds horrendous. This year marks a big milestone since I moved away from the NE and I've lost touch with everyone I used to go to matches with, apart from me Dad. So you lot are my main link to the club/the fanbase. When I do go now, I go on my own, drag my wife (a West Ham ST holder), my daughter, or a mate. When I first moved, I used to go to a lot of away games but that seems to have got harder over the years. I'll be honest, I see some opinions on here (not just about football) that make me despair and I regularly vow never to post again. There are one or two posters that I think are complete arseholes and that I really can't abide but there are a handful that I feel like I know (and that goes beyond the few that I've met in person) and like. If I did stop posting I'd probably quite miss that group of people. Which is a weird thing to say about a bunch of strangers on the Internet.
No need to go on your own unless you prefer it mate ... ... there's always someone from here at nearly every game. People have a nominated pub so the atmosphere is usually great
Aye, cheers Smug, I should make the effort to try and do that. It would be good to put a few more faces to usernames. It was a pleasure meeting everyone, including yourself, at the pub before Wembley.
