please log in to view this image Leeds United v Middlesbrough Wednesday 14th August@20:00hrs | Elland Road Daniel Farke is set to 'ring in the changes' midweek, when local rivals Middlesbrough come to Elland Road in the opening round of the Carabao Cup. Last season's semi-finalists will be up for the challenge, especially after edging past Swansea at the weekend. This time around the rivalry may have an extra edge, with Luke Ayling set to play against his beloved Leeds, with whom he featured over 250 times, over his eight-year tenure. Along with the majority of the Elland Road faithful, the Leeds gaffer would prefer to do without the distractions of Cup competitions; however, a loss on Wednesday, coupled with last Saturday's performance doesn't put the Whites in an encouraging position, ahead of their trip to The Hawthorns at the weekend. Leeds have no injury worries, leaving Daniel Farke with a full squad to experiment with. We can expect to see James Debayo and Max Wober in central defence, in-front of either Alex Cairns or Karl Darlow, with Sam Byram operating wide on the right, and possibly Conor Ferguson on the left. After an impressive pre-season, holding midfielder Charlie Crew is expected to start, whilst Joe Rothwell is likely to get the nod in attacking midfield, ahead of promising 16yo Sam Chambers. Joe Gelhardt, Brenden Arronson and Joe Gelhardt should also get minutes. Fit again Patrick Bamford and veteran midfielder Jonny Howson will face their former clubs!
Time to stuff them good and proper, ill leave it to those articulate enough in the set-ups to advise, all I want to do is watch and enjoy a win Thanks for the thread Ell Its appriciated
Darlow Byram...Rodon...Struijk...Wober .........Crew........Ampadu James.....Aaronson.......Firpo .................Bamford........
Need everyone up to speed so I'd go with.... ------------Darlow Byram--Rodon-Wober-Firpo ---------Rothwell--Ampadu Aaronson---Piroe----Gnonto ---------------Bamford Some important minutes for a few "fringe" players. They'll need to push the starters. Rodon needs minutes as he made a couple of mistakes on Saturday. I've a feeling Gnonto is on his way out so may as well flog the **** for all he's worth whilst he's still here. Plus he'll be up against Ayling so it would be a big advantage for us.
Pretty much agree, although I'm not so sure of Rodon. He took a big hit on Saturday & was limping for a good while after it. I wonder if he'll be rested to get over it. I also wonder if Joseph will start, to keep his engine running, so to speak.
Darlow Bogel ..Ampadu...Wober...Byram Aaronson......Rothwell........Gruev….James ...Piroe.......Bamford
when ever I see Bamford's name on the team sheet I come over all queasy, so please can you tell me why him, or amend your choice to kick him into touch better still sent the twat out on loan
Nobody but nobody would take him. I’ve no idea what’s left on his contract, probably a couple of years but we’re stuck with him till then. The real frustration is for what we’re paying him We could probably get someone really good
Jesus mate, give him a break. He really isn’t that bad. Good player who hasn’t had luck with injuries and isn’t the most efficient goal scorer. Not many with the full package at this level or even at PL level. We bought a ST last season for 20m and now he can’t even start. Not as an easy task as people expect. Joseph our saviour missed a sitter at the weekend, hopefully he doesn’t carry this on because if he gets the Bamford treatment we’re done for.
Just read this morning on Google News that Mes has the worst stats in this division, and the writers stated he was totally at fault for the first goal, they slated him and said management know he is the weak link, and are looking at a prem goalie who wants to leave, as he has been dropped down to play second fiddle, since the arrival of a new upgrade. My eyes don't deceive me, I've seen better goalies in div 1, and if there are any hopes of getting promoted, he needs to be shown the door A.S.A.P. as a liability
The sad thing about Google news though Rog, is that it isnt news, its just links to various clickbait sites and and fans blogs. Of course whilst that doesn't mean that the contents of the article aren't true, it also could mean that the person who wrote it, has as much knowledge about what is happening behind the scenes at the club, as you or me For those who are interested this is the link on Google news to the article that Rog is referring to https://www.leedsunited.news/opinio...goalkeeper-who-is-now-available-for-transfer/
As its the first round of the league cup for us tonight, and in a very piss poor attempt to drum up some enthusiasm for this competition, lets look at some of our past highlights Berardi red card Samu Saiz, whatever happened to him Paddy Bamford starts for the first time for us and for no other reason than to see Klich's goal again
Joseph to start for me. the lad needs to get going. give him 60mins if hes gonna be the number one the sooner he scores the better it is for him and us. Striker thrive off confidence and once he gets his goal it could be showtime.
