I think that anything that requires a panel of judges to give their opinions in NOT a sport

I’d also introduce a pre-Olympics tournament where randomly selected members of the public from around the world are given six months to learn the event and compete.

    Breaking is awesome to watch.
It is like gymnastics...on the floor

Although you need a set of judges...which intrinsically is not good and I agree is a problem.....the Japanese was very very obviously better than their opponent.

Regarding the ref problem...that applies to boxing too ( which I think we can all agree is a sport). Three of our boxers including Delicious Orie lost to controversial referee decisions..which Orie described as a couple of eye catching shots rather than his steady and continuous domination of the opponent.

There should be 3 categories of sport. A. Pure sport no judgement required - faster stronger higher etc.
    B. Sports with referees that can influence the outcome. Eg football, basketball, hockey etc etc
    C. All sports that are judged particularly those which are with artistic interpretation. Gymnastics, diving etc etc.

Even that don't work Ozzie.....Gymnastics ( vault and rings for example) and diving have clear scoring elements...which are marked...and penalties ( such as step on dismount) subtracted....

You can say the same about Boxing and Taekwando. Have to say the use of "VAR" in Taekwando seems far better than in Boxing

Boxing, judo all the combat sports are easy. Ref to stop foul play, no judges, matches continue until one player surrenders or cannot continue. After all, that is the origin and objective of all these sports, to disable or even kill your opponent.

Then we just need to introduce an element of combat to all the ‘artistic’ disciplines and follow the same principles. I’d love to see those ‘artistic swimming’ competitors trying to drown each other.

Proposed new sport for the next Olympics - duelling. Swords or pistols allowed. To the death for the medals rounds.

I disagree Beth. The scoring elements are judged as to the quality of those elements which leaves it open to interpretation every time. That's why they have so many judges and eliminate so many of those scores because there such a big variation on what is being judged. Therefore category 3. Easy.

Like breakdancing? The Aussie contribution was an embarrassment.

All of them. I want to see an obese bloke who has never swum before given six months before being forced to do the 10km open swim. Same for the Winter Olympics including countries which have never had snow. Mandatory participation or it’s treason.
