Again another post agreeing that Buluts style of football is a major issue. Until that changes we’re in for a lot of misery at home especially but I can’t see him changing. We surely can’t have another season relying on late late shows after being outplayed. As I suggested above the glimmer of hope is the new signings upping the tempo in transition and playing the game in the opposition final third.
Tanner wasn’t interested. Willock is not fit. NG should have known better when the winger skinned him for their second. Tippy tappy didn’t work against a high press side. Our midfield laboured and were overrun. Their midfield found space with ease. It was so frustrating to that I was crying out for a hoof ball, as our boring playing out from the back was woeful. Early doors of course and we actually looked good for the first fifteen minutes, but we will get nowhere this season playing this style of football.
Agreed on Ralls but no point in aimlessly punting the ball forward. It has to be on the deck or round the corner but transition remains a problem. We need more movement up front and in attacking midfield. Hopefully Robertson will bring some of that. Although only with us for a couple of days I thought he might have come on for the last 15/20 minutes.
Indeed. Turnbull adds nothing but assume Robertson wasn’t quite up to fitness. I am hopeful Robertson will add that pace, guile and craft Ralls & Turnbull don’t have.Suspect he’ll play at the Gas. ps What did you think of Ramsey today?
I'm a little more sympathetic than Grumpy Old Sparks. However words like, off the pace, not fully fit and perhaps trying too hard instead of doing simple things competently spring to mind.
Really disappointed with the result today! Considering we started the game brightly!! This passing the ball back all the time really needs to stop as it slows down the game & we then offer nothing!! Tanner looked really poor & disinterested! O’Dowda looked really sharp that’s only the positive I gotta say!! ⚽️
Lots of people around me saying the same. However surely you don't advocate just lumping the ball forward? Robinson is not the guy to have upfront if doing that. Meite and Kanga are more suited to that but then we lose movement and resort to hoofball. We need forwards running quickly into space and the ability of midfielders to find them. Apart from O'Dowda and Robinson and Willock at times there was no one doing the former and rarely anyone, even Ramsey, achieving the latter. We are placing a lot on Robertson. I hope that is justified. We don't want to be way down the league when El Ghazi comes in.
He wasn’t ’rubbish’ but apart from a few nice touches looked off the pace. Not unexpected at his age and missing most of last season. Thought he’d be subbed on 60 for Robertson
The few "nice touches" were heavily offset by his failed attempt to turn back the years and cover every blade of grass. At his age and fitness level they were the wrong decisions. Where was he supposed to be playing? What was his position and what role did Bulut give him in the side? "Rubbish" may seem a bit harsh, but in the context of his contribution in the game he was "rubbish".
I think its pointless singling players out. Collectively we were crap. Its even worse watching the EFL highlights and seeing The football played elsewhere. That young Cheltenham midfielder bursting into the box in the 96th minute for his 2nd and Cheltenhams winner would do nicely pity we didn't have someone like that. We are ****. We deserve to go down for being so badly run. Here we are with 45 more games of Bulutball or probably Purse in charge from Oct - Jan followed by a new manager for a few months for the relegation scrap. It's not the defeat it's the utter garbage football on offer with young players ignored. This club needs a huge shake up. Maybe the drop to L1 is what's needed.
Well fug me, that wasn’t the start either CCFC expected to the season. Comments here mirror those on our board, weak in midfield and unable to get the strikers involved. Onwards and upwards from now on butts.
Agree this shouldn't down to singling players out, but Nin asked the question "what did you think of Ramsey today?" This is more about the sum of the parts, tactics and the on pitch team performance. Unless the players just aren't good enough or collectively ignored instructions, it's down to Bulut and his coaches. That was last season all over again.
Nice to see Bethan (our only bird) writing sensible and considered comments. Now Masky’s off The Prediction League, she feels the pressures off her perhaps....how do you find Irish.....pain eh? Masky Of Llandaff
How many years have we been saying we need new midfielders,we stick with the same OLD faces ralls ramsey when will our management learn that we need someone with footballing knowledge to look at the team and work out where we need to change until that happens it will stay the boring same,i noticed a lot of seats empty on saturday ,how many will there be for our next home game,i would say God help us but i think even he would say we need someone with football knowledge.so please management get of your backsides and get someone who knows what they are doing.
I didn't follow the game closely as I was reinstating a 40m length of post and rail fencing. I just kept an eye on things on the BBC text service. Looking at the percentage possession, goal attempts, saves by their keeper, it looked like we had the upper hand, so it was a bit of a surprise to read the comments on here. Disappointing.
