It think, where I am at is, I want to develop our own players now. We have lots of youth and they need development. We need to invest into a player and develop our own. We need a player with senior experience to come into the 11. Not another under 21 player with zero senior minutes.

Here Sheffield United are after Oxlade-Chamberlain.

Be some coup that, surely that doesn’t happen.

I agree with the bit in bold but the one thing I keep thinking about, do we try to get 1 or 2 in? Say we only get 1 in and bring a young lad in on loan with Mayenda and Rusyn competing for that role as understudy. Would we as fans be happy if the experienced striker gets injured and we rely on Mayenda, Rusyn plus 1 as leading the line? I thought Mayenda did "ok" yesterday, showed well for the ball at times, should've scored but the keeper did a decent save but as others have stated there is a player there, just needs some encouragement to come out

Well yes they are, that is exactly what they are intimating. Hence the caution around paying money out. And by the way I don’t necessarily mean on here.

Coburn who left us under SD and CM.

My ex boss who's Boro always said they need better than him to kick on.

If we dissect the ‘miss’ for Mayenda, there’s a few ways of looking at it.

    1) it’s a great chance and he had options to take a touch, or hit right footed across the keeper.

    2) it’s a half chance cos it comes to him half step and he has to adjust.

    3) he deliberately goes near post which is footballing brain assuming keeper will cover the goal and it’s a great save (this is my take)

    4) He could let it run across him and he likely gets taken out for a pen, or has a roll in far corner.

Now, that’s a lot of options for a young lad unexpectedly thrust into a big game opening day. If he scores we all saying ‘was a bit raw but he was getting shots of all day and has scored’.

The margins for the lad were so small. I want to see him kept until at least the deadline before we consider a loan. Yesterday will have brought him on a load.

People will say that composed strikers would have put it away, but how do we know they would have created that space for themselves in the first place? We don’t, he’s got something about him and he’s not ready yet, but he will only get ready by playing games. If we can give him enough playing time, that would be fine by me.

I totally get that, im not against it if it improves us immediately (no guarantees it would).

I scout with a Spurs fan and he raves about this lad and reckons he would do a job in the championship so might improve our chances for this season

If it was at the other end of the pitch we’d probably be saying Patterson’s made a great save.

It looked like it was slightly caught under his feet as well.

He isn’t ready though and it’s not fair he’s being asked to lead the line.

I’d certainly say he showed enough to be getting bench time and minutes at end.

He’s quick and against tired defenders can certainly stretch game.

Bang on. Without a proper centre forward signed it’d be a boring season with nothing achieved. We’re desperate.

Methinks getting someone on board gives us more chance of keeping JC.

    I’m not sure Clarke goes.

Zero signs of a lad desperate to be out the door. He looks proper tight with the other players, running to the crowd and conducting them to sing his chant, ****ing love to see it.

    The lad likes it here.

REGIS LE BRIS claims Jack Clarke is in the “perfect position” at Sunderland and is desperately hoping the winger remains on Wearside beyond the end of the transfer window.
Southampton and Brentford are understood to remain interested in Clarke, but having watched the winger’s performance at the Cardiff City Stadium, Le Bris is hoping he is not prised from the Stadium of Light in the next three weeks

I think he loves it here but if someone offers to double or even treble your wages its hard to say no.
