Can't see that happening G1. Beaten comfortably in both outings in slow times. On form and clock she can't beat the top 2 in the betting and only 7 runners

Really Shergar Cup day should be sponsored by Mickey Mouse... today another bunch of second strings with no recent form will compete with any old jockey aboard.

Otherwise, what is on offer hardly inspires. Small fields at HQ with the feature Sweet Solera probably between the form pick Mountain Breeze and the once raced Ballydoyle raider Lake Victoria. At Haydock the winner of the Rose of Lancaster will get an extra £1,148 as there are now only five running for prize money down to sixth.

My main interest in the Dick Hern Stakes (4:45) at Haydock is the favourite: Indelible is a Shamardal daughter of Midday, so it is interesting to see her plying her trade at a mile. She was fourth in the Sandringham (Strutting was second) on the wrong side of the track and was beaten by another Gosden horse in a Listed race last time (Sandringham winner Soprano behind). The only other three year old in the line up is once raced American Arrow for Ed Walker. Of the older fillies and mares, Orchid Bloom is probably the pick for a Haggas yard that has been churning out winners this last week.

Prior to that in the 4:10, ten currently look to be lining up for the three year old handicap. Lokana has had a break but the form of her last two runs gives no cause to think she will feature here. Mystical Maria has run without much distinction three times and now enters handicapping off a mark of 70 but was out with the washing when last in action at this track. There is no form case to be made for On Point either, dropped 4lb for finishing last at Chester and never a factor at York before that. Zipster opened his account on his seasonal bow but has been well beaten on three subsequent starts and his price reflects where he lives rather than his form chance. Empire Of Light drops to the mile here after placing on his last two starts in moderate handicaps following an easy win in a six-runner event at this track. This looks more competitive and he is now 9lb higher than that ten furlong win. Thewind Cries Mary recorded her only win over course and distance in a four runner event, has been second on both subsequent starts, has blinkers fitted today and her last two turf races were on soft ground. I think that covers the list of negatives. At the top of the weights, Remoji makes her handicap debut after being beaten on the kitty litter last time when odds on having won a moderate five runner Beverley maiden. She steps up a furlong today and an opening mark of 77 gives her a chance for her powerful yard and she is giving little more than a stone to the bottom weight. That is This Years Love, a winner of two Beverley handicaps under Joanna Mason before coming unstuck in the hat-trick bid at Pontefract. Now back against three year olds on just a 2lb higher mark he should give a good account today as he looks an uncomplicated ride. Ralph Beckett won this last term and Golden Myrrh has excellent prospects after following up a moderate win on the kitty litter with a cozy win on turf in June. Taking on her elders at Beverley in July she failed to justify favouritism but back against her age group Hector Crouch’s mount must go close off just 6lb more than the June win. SALAMANCA LAD is on a roll for the Kublers after making all in a poor Leicester race, following up on the kitty litter and then improving again to complete the hat-trick at Sandown. He comes here with just an extra 4lb burden from the handicapper and having won off 64, 67 and 72 he has the services of my jinx jockey today (which is probably why I should really be leaving him alone!).

The (16:45) at Haydock, a Class-1 Listed event for Fillies' & Mares' over 1m on good-to-firm ground, is a competitive affair. Without further ado, selection is the Awtaad filly, Naomi Lapaglia. Last two runs have been very promising, after a previous lengthy break of 225-days. Should be fully wound-up now and fit to give a good account. Oisin Orr rides for the Richard Spencer yard.

10/1 (Ladbrokes/BetVictor) top price early-doors, on the ATR site. E/W best option.

3rd at 17/2 SP. Ran well and came with a rattle from last place. but she just had too much ground to make up. Definitely one for the notebook. Happy with the e/w though.

Well, my selection today had every chance but was totally outgunned by the two from the big yards. Fair play to Remoji making the most of what might turn out to be a lenient handicap mark on only her fourth start. Clearly there are still races to be won with Golden Myrrh as well.

Very disappointing from Midday’s daughter Indelible in the Listed race, victory going to the Crisford filly Choisya that had not run for a couple of months.

Whilst it was not going to script at Haydock, Juddmonte picked up the juvenile group race across the Irish Sea with Babouche beating Whistlejacket.

Although suffering a reverse at The Curragh, Coolmore will be happy that Lake Victoria won the Sweet Solera, making most of the running. I wonder whether the plan was to miss the kick with Mountain Breeze as she had far too much to do with a quarter of a mile to go but on a bare analysis of the form, Aidan O’Brien’s filly looks one for the notebook having won a race that he previously won with Love on debut and then immediately stepping up to pattern company. Given that the runner-up went into the race rated 104, that gives the two length winner a good rating – and O’Brien already has the top two rated juvenile fillies, which have the rare distinction of being the top two of any sex at the moment.
