Hi guys- great to see a replacement for 606 up and running, with lots of usage. I miss that forum. After watching the last few games, it seems Liverpool have worked out a good, high pressing game that's putting a lot of big teams under pressure. For me, Adam and Lucas have been fantastic. Enrique, I also think, has been a huge success. However, I can't help but think that the team does miss something, and finally I know what. Aquaman. To be honest, he never played that well in his season here, but he has the potential to. I always thought that with Lucas and Adam, you had two very strong and consistent CMs, but I miss the European flair of Meireles and Aqualani, or at least, the flair that they looked like they could create. I thought selling Meireles to Chelsea was a huge mistake- with Lucas, he was Liverpool's best player last season, and almost single-handedly dragged them up the table. It looks like Gerrard will no longer be a regular, so it would have been nice to see how the 2 Europeans could provide variety in a very "PL" midfield. What're your thoughts? Most people I have spoken to, bar one, have said Aquaman should just be cashed in, but I miss having that sort of player. At least stop sending him out on loan, reducing his value.
Welcome to the forum. I think Aquilani is a decent player, but he clearly doesn't want to be here. I'll trust Kenny to make the judgement calls. As for Meireles. He seems to be doing Chavski the world of good, along with Torres
I got weary of the whole Aquillani saga in the end, thought he might give us a go but it wasn't to be. The last time Torress and Meireles were in the team together for us look where we were...Good luck to them at Chelsea, they'll need it.
He'd be worth more to us than the 7 million we're supposedly accepting for his move to Milan. This whole Aquilani saga is an embarrassment. The fact is he won't be playing in the red shirt again so time to move on.
Sometimes players just don't fit into a team it doesn't really matter how good they are or how much they cost, sometimes it just doesn't work out. This is the same with all the clubs in the world, but perhaps its even more difficult at Anfield as we expect Loyalty and love of the Badge as well. Ok we took a hit on Aquaman and its a shame because he might turn out to be great player at another club, but thems the breaks.
The whole saga sounded to me like he simply couldn't hack the physicality of the Premier League. It's certainly no place for nancy boys.
The thing is, we sold Raul late on and we didn't bother to rush for a replacement at the end o the transfer window. Can you see us bringing in a replacement?
Welcome to the forum Wahey! Like others on here have already said, he's a good player but he doesn't want to be here. In my opinion, if he doesn't want to be here, he should be sold. We need players who are committed and Aquilani doesn't seem to be. I think I read that he has got to make 25 appearances at Milan to trigger the clause that makes sure that Milan pay us for him and I would fully expect that clause to be met and Aquilani to be off in the summer.
i like Aquaman as a player and always thought we should have given him more of a chance, however i think its too late now for what ever reason he didn't want to stay with us this season and i would be very surprised if in the future we bring him back as a permanent squad member.
Wahey, welcome to the forum I don't even think we really saw enough of him to be able to miss him, very strange scenario it's been. No doubting that he's a very good player though...
If Milan want to just give us 7 mil we can take Prince Boateng off their hands! He has been unreal for them this year.
Was thinking that watching his goal last week in the CL. Every time I've watched him play he has been fantastic. can't see him leaving Italy though, and we would need CL football for starters.
Remember when everyone said he was just a one-hit at Pompey and couldn't cut it with the big teams....... uh whoops! What I love about his game is the fire when he plays, you can see it. His passion is top notch, would fit in well with us I do believe.
Not surprised he had that label at Pompey after his time at Spurs. I didn't really rate him until the back end of the 09/10 season and the FA Cup final. He's another example of a youngster struggling in the early 20s blossoming into a fantastic player. Hendo is showing glimpses of some fantastic football now, hope he blossoms...I believe we got the right set up for him to get there.
Ya, You see the flashes of it with hendo and that is what it will be as he works to make his game more complete. Zingy/LDC this mornth I am really buzzing, we could really fire up the table if we do this right and could see chelsea slip, newcastle as well!
Newcastle don't really bother me, they have some favourable fixtures in Dec which I can see them winning. Also hope they beat Chelsea on the weekend and after the game with us they have Utd at home. Just hope that we can do our job and continue to beat the lesser teams like we have with Chelsea.
