I must be strange, I have no problem with that group of players being in that group, maybe Jobe voices his opinions more than some of the other players?
Absolutely delighted for Dan Neil. What a honour for him, and it is 100% deserved. I cannot think of a more worthy captain of this team in a long time. It feels almost like a proud parent moment for me. From his academy career then to his first few games in the first team I have been a huge advocate of his. It was so clear from the outset he was going to become a top class player to me. He has so much ability and bravery on the ball. He has developed his game so much too, including his leadership skills. This is just the next step on a journey to become an elite premier league midfield player. The lad is simply outstanding and I couldnt be happier to see someone this talented as one of our own and staying to lead us. Best news of the summer in my opinion. Massive credit to past coaches too. Johnson and Venus in particular. Despite fans shouting when he lost possession, which was only ever occassionally, the coaches never let him change his game. They wanted him to take it in tight spaces and on the half turn. He kept being brave and he learned quickly. Now he is our perfect midfielder and perfect captain. Well done all.
I don't think anybody has necesarily said they have a problem with it, just that they're surprised to see Jobe in it. Purely because of his age, I can absolutely see why he'd be in it. Very vocal. Excellent talker. Seems to have elite mentality as well like his brother. And also he's going to very much "lead" the high press from his position. Makes perfect sense to me that he'd be one of the leaders in the dressing room.
Jobe and his brother both seem well put together when you hear them in interviews mind, you hear some of these 25 year olds in the Premier League and wonder what went wrong.
Doubt it very much. This leadership group is appointed by Le Bris not themselves. I would think they will meet regularly with the coaching group and have an influence on the next few training sessions, maybe even on how they think in game things should be tweaked. These are lads who will have a voice with the coaches, representing players. They will also be expected to enforce coach expectations and tactical tweaking on the pitch. It is a common thing in football these days. Johnson had one. Rugby is big on it. This group looks a strong one too in my opinion.
no signings are guaranteed. I think its absolutely fine to label him the "signing of the summer". Nobody is pretending its guaranteed. Its all on paper.
Played and score in champs league Huge huge potential 3.5 million is an absolute snip there attacking options are superb
I have hopes for Jobe this season. 2nd full one as a regular in a senior team. Let’s remember Dan Neil was similarly inconsistent in his first full regular season - in league one, no less.
I’ve never heard of him but he seems highly rated. See how he does, but I can see him getting booted all over in this league.
No way is an unproven young lad who’s never played in the league ‘signing of the season’ like. I’m sure he’s potentially very good but if he was that standout City ain’t selling at that price.
Hamilton - Latte - Conway (when he signs) - jones - Cowburn - Burgzorg Plenty to rotate, but Hamilton will be an Amad type signing for them - thy are spending very very well
Might be a more unpopular opinion but I would of went with Ballard for captain not that I’m upset about Neil by any means. Just think Neil is an emotional player at times (not a bad thing) and hope the armband doesn’t get to him (sure he’ll grow with it with more experience). That been said, what is the most important thing about him being captain is that I can’t see any world he will be leaving this summer and that is a massive positive.
To be fair that’s Neil, sounds like he never bothered with school and Scholes was/is like that anarl, didn’t make much of a difference to how good he was!
