Coaches I can barely look at one without wanting to chuck. Had some very bad experiences with long school coach outings as a kid. Probably the only reason I never became a professional footballer Best of luck with your trip @Dick Plumb1
The one and only time I travelled by CAFC coach to an away game was Newcastle in the late 80s / early 90s. I remember we won 4-3 and the Geordies really let manager Jim Smith have it, in a hostile atmosphere. From memory, Steve Mackenzie scored for us. The coach dropped us back outside the Valley at 4am. The whole trip was an horrendous experience drowned in the odour of a stinky chemical toilet - and that was just the fan sitting opposite me. Never again
They have certainly improved since those days I have been a number of times by Coach and it is fine. Train travel is very expensive and I am only a poor pensioner. The pick up point is not far away. It beats driving yourself.
PS Not sure if it coubts Train prices are absolutely mental. When I first started going, about a dozen of us (including Rick Everitt …) used to meet that great bloke Paul Ellis at a vague time at Kings Cross, St Pancras or Euston. Just as anxiety was setting in, Paul appeared like Mr Benn with a clutch of ridiculously cheap subsidised train tickets - you ended up going to grounds in Liverpool & Manchester for £10. If you went to Wigan by train on Saturday you are comfortably looking at £200 plus including food, drink & tickets. I can’t be doing with that Wally Life malarkey of changing trains 14 times to pay for loads of cheap single journeys.
Lovely to have English football back tonight. We are spoilt for choice at 8pm - at least one live game in each league. I like this new format
I don’t think it will be puzzling if Campbell starts. He has scored a number of goals pre season and looks fitter and stronger. Plus Godden is out of Saturdays squad.
Jones was being economical with the truth when he said Godden had concussion and it was part of the protocol's. He has a slight strain which will keep him out of the game.
Happy New CAFC season everyone Another season of moaning, bitching & tantrums …and that’s just us posting on 606. Good luck to those travelling (we are now expecting to take 1,000), for those not there are plenty of streams of our match available at 5.30; and most of them are free
