    Match Preview;
In the thirty plus years I've been supporting QPR, it is rare that we go into a new season with this much excitement around the club. Martí Cifuentes has been a breath of fresh air since arriving, and his record of 13 wins, 9 draws and 11 losses turned the tide last year, and kept us up. The summer has seen a few departures, most notably Chris Willock and Sinclair Armstrong. That said, Willock didn't look interested at all towards the end of his time with us, and the debate about Armstrong will go on, but he was never a prolific goal scorer. Their departures paved the way for Zan Celar's arrival...a striker with a proven goal scoring record in the Swiss Premier League, 40 goals in 95 league appearances over the last three seasons. If Cifuentes can get them to gel, and give Celar the service he needs, this could be a very exciting season, or at least not as nerve racking as last season.

That said, and I know this is getting ahead of myself, I would not be disappointed with a relatively stable season, and a top ten finish, maybe sneaking into the playoffs, but not promotion...yet. We've gone up in the past, and not been ready, and I'd far rather Cifuentes took a season or two to build a squad strong enough to go up, and stay up, instead of pop up for a year or two maximum.

As for our opponents, they are going into their fourth season in the second tier, since relegation in the 2020/21 season. In the seasons since relegation, they've finished 10th, 9th then 5th last year, losing to Southampton in the playoffs. Their manager, Carlos Corberán, will be eager to get them back in the Premiership and prove his abilities, having failed to get Huddersfield back to the Premiership during his two seasons there.

Really looking forward to this one, and falls nicely with the start of the holidays, so can't wait to be back in the upper loft, to see the Queens Park Rangers!

Teams news and manager comments to go up when on the official, and as always...

    ...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!

    Well said, mate.
I agree, a mid to mid upper finish would be nice and comforting.

    He Saved Us.
    He Steadied us.
    He Took us up.

    Yep, that’s got merit.

Somebody to score more than 10 goals and for me to like our players this year as much as I did last year

We could really do with getting in some attackers before the season kicks off !

I know the scoreline didn't reflect it but our last game against them at Loftus Road, Stan's 'memorial' game under the lights with an exceptional atmosphere is one I'll certainly remember.

    Cheers Dave.
As neither team will want to lose their first game, it might be a bore draw but there is some sense in that.
Obviously, I hope we thrash them! Carry on the momentum from QPR 4: Leeds 0.

I seriously hope that Chair is in it. Without him and Willock we look bloody impotent and like we aren't gonna score. We have to get a replacement in for Willock quickly and preferably another attacking midfielder

West Bromwich Albion have been placed under an EFL-imposed business plan which will limit their transfer activity in this window, Sky Sports News can reveal, amid concerns that they are on course to breach the League's financial rules.

West Bromwich Albion made Championship play-offs last season but are in danger of failing to stay within the financial guidelines of the league set by the EFL; money issues are linked to previous owners; any new transfers will need to be cleared by EFL

Hasn't stopped them from just snapping up the left back we were after on a free from Juventus ! Twats. Watch him score a 30 yarder in the top corner on Saturday

    Nice one Dave

To be honest my expectations are not that high for this season, a lot of change and still lacking a cutting edge up front I feel

Hopefully a season of consolidation to mid table, anything more than that is a bonus

WBA game will be a good marker of where we are at. The Baggies will be looking for a top 6 finish and will be interesting to see how we fare

We’re winning this 1-0 by the way. Scrappy winner from Celar in the 62nd minute after a nervy first half.

The KO time has stuffed me and no doubt a few others.

0-1 I am afraid until we sign a striker. Celar has too much expectation on his shoulders but let's hope he's either oblivious to it or thrives on it.
