They should hold it in Queens Gardens, oh, it's not quite ready yet and last year's £4.8mn estimate for the works is now £21.1mn, that's some going. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
I think that was the original estimate , then went up to about £16 Million last year and is now £21 Million . Don't ask me how they can justify that .
The cost of building materials has sky rocketed in the UK, same with the cost of labour. I won’t go into why, board rules, but it is affecting capital schemes across the land, not just Hull.
Can do that but can’t find the money to repair toilets , get the Vicky Square fountains going and have left Picky Park paddling pool go to ruin in one year or so . It’ll cost too much to sort it , they’ll remove it and grass it over citing no money !
I've heard it said that some elements have been over engineered and therefore more expensive than necessary. Talk of dodgy council spending never goes away. But I'm also not surprised it costs more now than it would a couple of years ago.
To be fair HHH prices plateaued two years ago and are likely less in many industries than at the peak post Covid. Dfferent people here in different fields will know the positions they're in.
Ah.. Yeah sorry about that… Me, @askewshair & @FER ARK did some of the landscaping for a reduced hourly rate if they gave us a free bar…
It no longer exists, barely any of the old Queens Gardens exists, almost all of it is being replaced (the rose bowl at the entrance and the ponds are still there, pretty much all the rest of the inside has been dig up. A new stage is going in).
It's more the fact of how much more it costs , I understand it costing more but initially it was going to be under £5 Million so that means more than 4 times as much In other areas the council claim they can't afford to do basic things
Rico, two things can be true at once. Prices have gone up, and the spec has expanded. Kindly direct your shouty man act elsewhere.
