Lazio killed the game as a spectacle that’s the annoying part. Any time we tried to run at them they just right tackled us.
A real good workout, Lazio weren’t messing about and thought SamAA did very well standing up to the assaults Bearing in mind that rather unimpressive line up they did well but it shows up how much we need a striker and a goalkeeper who knows what his feet are for
In fairness that was in response to him charging on and shoving a Lazion player in the chest/neck. Not to say it was warranted, but Charly had already over reacted to a situation that was fairly calm until he got involved.
I don't see it quite the same - though Charly was already hot under the collar. The tackle came in from Charles. Innocuous one and not even sure it was a foul. Their player came and squared up to Charles who was trying to walk away - then Charly does his teammate protection act. It was calmish - but sometimes you need that guy who tells the opposition we won't take this ****.
Hmm, that seems a little biased to me. We committed the foul, and it was the Lazio player letting us know they won't take this ****. Then Charly charged in and esculated it massively. He would have got a yellow just for the shove let alone the rest of it. Don't get me wrong, I like that side of him, but he needs more control. If he is that charged up in a friendly, he will be a liability in competitive football.
It was probably the least foully foul of the night. The lazio player went in to try to intimidate Shea, not to back up his teammate. He knew as well as the whole of Italy that Italian players have to roll around on the floor BY LAW if they are tackled.
Nah, PL sides aren't nearly as bad as Italian sides. He was sticking up for Charles at the end of the day. He went too far, but Guendouzi literally grabbed his leg and held it about 3 feet off the ground in the first half! I can understand why he flew off the handle.
I agree with you, he should have clamped down early doors, Lazio seemed to forget the name of the game is football, not footfoot! When it all kicked off he went missing instead of intervening. a loud blast on the Acme Thunderer in the right ear always has the desired effect I used to find!
It was an entertaining evening but the lack of information about the substitutions was annoying, plus even when the scoreboard had the team list on it, the white on red format made it virtually impossible to read from where I sat in the Itchen, the Northam screen was too close, the Chapel too far away with that format.
I don't believe so for competitive games. He might banned for the next friendly though not too sure how that works.
Good interview with a dose of realism. We need to shift some of the deadwood first and there is plenty of that
I saw Martin commented on the pitch, reckons we played on it a bit earlier than the groundsmen would've liked but that the two week gap to the Forest game should be enough time to get it right
