Having to close the soup kitchen because of the potential protests in town tomorrow.

My apologies Rooch, I have just looked it up. There is a Fast Track process in certain circumstances. It doesn't get to court any quicker but once at court all the reports are pre-prepared and the judge sets a 1 day or a 2 day trial.
I have never heard of it before. It just show the need to check before putting my foot in it :emoticon-0102-bigsm:emoticon-0102-bigsm

No problem mate, I just remember it happened before when something like this happened, and fairly certain it helps to end things faster.

It does once at trial but even fast tracking can take up to a year to get to court. It's the actual trial, verdict and sentencing that are fast tracked and only if certain criteria are met

You can also get police bail though while they investigate and that is a slow process these days

Sadly there's absolutely nothing that can change their minds, no matter how wrong they're proved to be.

I'd bet these people sneered at the 'Just Stop Oil' protesters for ...

... 'disrupting people's lives for the pursuit of their stupid ideology' <doh>

    Quite right mate.

Sadly, I have to say, the slogan 'BLM' was one of the biggest errors in the history of civil rights imo.

It was an absolute gift to all kinds of bigots who's response, as you say, was the most predictable thing on earth since Adam said 'Don't bite the apple ... I'll bite the f*cker if I want!'

Neither me nor any of the "lefties" defended what that gang of Muslims in Birmingham did. Nor BTW did lots of Muslims who went to the pub today to apologise and to pay for the damage.

The police have arrested the bloke carrying the sword and are after the ones who beat up the lad in the pub saying they will be charged with violent disorder (which will mean prison).

Once again, neither me nor any of the other "lefties" on the forum have made a single excuse for that Muslim gang.

Things have quietened down, on this thread, because there's only so many times you can express your opinion. This isn't Sky News and we're not here to provide a running commentary. The whole thing is appalling no matter who's involved in the violence.

Sadly most of us are bored with it all and any Internet argument eventually becomes a hair splitting saga where few people ever change their opinion. No matter how many video clips are posted, or endless statistics thrown on, the picture doesn't become clearer, just murkier.

Well I’ve just watched some government bloke saying the full force of the law will come down on anyone involved in the riots and could expect 10 year sentences. First sentence passed down on this mornings news, 2 months, that should frighten the buggers.

Hope it’s just coincidence that this first one was a less serious offence ( although I believe that willing participation is willing involvement in all the mobs wrongdoings)

A 2 month sentence would see a working man or woman lose their jobs and possibly their home. For the 7 day a week drinkers and work shy it would be an 8 week holiday on remand in HMP Durham. The sentences will have a different impact on each individual.
