He has serious talent. If we can get the best out of him this would be a very good deal if we get him.
Is it just me, but I am wondering if all the clips in the first video cut out just as he loses the ball, setting up a goal for the other side. Yes I know, I have watched too many tricky players produce F… all, for Saints. Jaded but not green.
We should either pay close to what they want right now or walk away and secure another target. In fairness, with Carvalho that may be what is happening. With the interest he has and the fact he doesnt seem to be forcing a move, he will either go for about £25m or stay another season.
Getting a bit frustrated reading people say. ‘’Just pay the money”, “up the bid”, “**** owners” etc. We are seriously restricted on spending due to the corrupt PRS rules. It will be a miracle now if 1 of the promoted teams stay in the premier league , let alone all 3. We have had to pay approx £38 million just to keep 2 of our best players from the promotion team. As I’ve said before, the club could do with moving on the likes of ABK, Alcaraz, KWP and Tall Paul, as this money could be reinvested in first team starters. Most of us knew it would be like this after gaining promotion, as we are going to have to build the house and not buy one. There WILL be additions before the end of this month, but whoever comes in RM in my eyes will be a genius keeping us up this year. You see the spending this year, on average players now well over £20 million, and things have moved on so much especially when you’re out of the league even if it’s for one season.
How much have Ipswich spent so far? £80m roughly? I don’t think clubs really care about PSR, just sort it out when you need to in a year or 2 like every other club has done this year. Worst case you get a -2, big deal Edit - just checked they’ve spent £75m so far, and revenue wise they should be a lot less than us on the books due to a L1 season vs our Prem season, not to mention our sales last year
Adam Blackmore has said we want a new GK. He's also said we want BOTH MoR and Carvalho. He also said we want a few signings in and out this week.
So sounds like want probably 5 players total based on rumours? GK, DM, AM, LW, ST Maybe 4 if you ditch the striker and just play BBD there, don’t seem to be linked to many strikers currently whereas linked to a few wingers That’s probably close to £100m if we are looking for starters in all those positions, hopefully 2 loans can soften the financial blow a bit
I think that the approach is one of several options. Right now I would say we are very much a championship side and nowhere near a mid table premiership side in terms of quality. Perhaps the club is taking a yo-yo approach rather than gambling big amounts like we did previous but I don’t see a success story coming from that. Relegation seasons destroy teams. If we still had Livramento, JWP and Lavia in the side then I’d be reasonably confident so if we can strengthen with a couple of players who can cause problems for oppositions then we might make a push for survival but I don’t see any worse teams than us in the league at the moment. If KWP stays at least the backline looks good quality. I really want to feel optimistic but with RMs approach and the squad as it stands I think I will be avoiding the internet most weekends.
