I asked a Hamburg supporter about this and his response was "Corners are not a part of Walter's game. Live with it."
He's probably half decent, but a central midfielder is hardly a priority at the moment, particularly if Zambrano is already on his way here.
I don't think it's correct to say Cooper (or anyone other than Walter) was their first choice. Walter was named right from the start, pretty much as soon as Rosenior had gone. Acun / Tan said they would take a few days to consider applications / best candidates, but all the while Walter was their man. A few names popped up, like Cooper who ruled himself out; maybe if he hadn't they might have pursued interest further, who knows. I'm pretty sure it was Walter from the off, and, although some wanted an immediate appointment it really didn't take that long to get confirmed. Appointing Walter was never the issue behind the slowness in transfer (in) business, other than him perhaps being too picky in who's been put to him.
This is the first I've really thought of it but, if Longman, Ömür and Oscar are out then picking a starting 11 for Saturday will be an interesting exercise. No idea who plays at the top end of the pitch at that point.
You can get all sorts in the middle aisles these days. Maybe that's where we should look for decent signings
Well, at the moment there's little point in lofting it into the box as we have knack all threat in there! And the short corners didn't go back to the keeper and out of play. I'm no fan of short corners, just like I'm no fan of having next to no aerial threat from them....and yet we still don't seem to be addressing missing height & physicality (not that we're addressing anything much at present).
