Mendy? That wouldn’t seem to make any sense. They’d surely rather accept a bid lower than they value him than get nowt. His contract would still have to be agreed by both parties and he’s probably not on that much so won’t save a vast amount anyway.

For the right player you wait. Say he misses 3 games and plays consistently for the rest of the season it’s no different from having another player in now who gets a knock. Except, if he’s the one we think will make the front line tick and the other player doesn’t you’ve screwed up big style.
