I would be very surprised if this rumour is true. All the work off the pitch getting fans back, the pitch renovations, the network of clubs in Europe, Tan on the EFL board, moving staff over to settle in the area, getting Safiport onboard, the Turkey trip, signing Tim Walter knowing his family will move over, and obviously the progress on the pitch, only one place away from play offs. It would be completely illogical to sell up now unless there’s an external factor causing it. I think Acun is just giving a lot of you what you wanted and taking a backseat in the football department.
And why waste all of pre-season with no squad only to rush them all in the week before the season? I'd be skeptical of seeing more than 1 new face in this week.
You’re right, it doesn’t mean it will happen. But if it doesn’t, then it will tell us more about the current situation than the last month or so combined. There has been lots of speculation and people jumping to conclusions, but I’ve been giving the club the benefit of the doubt, based on what they have done for us. Since the takeover, I have felt like we have finally had our club back. I also said weeks ago that it wasn’t time to panic. This week leading up to Bristol City is the week where things have to happen. Especially now that these rumours are snowballing into something significant.
And for the record, I can see how the evidence is pointing to Acun having his head turned with this new Fenerbahce role. He now needs to come out and quash or confirm these rumours so we can move forward as a club. The fans need to be excited for the season ahead, ready for the game on Saturday.
Agreed he actually had a decent season in 22/23 in Ligue 1. Experienced shot stopper who can help Pandur develop quicker
I don't think Acun will say anything. He's stopped been transparent for a few weeks now. He passed by translucency and went staught to opacity...
Do you actually think or give some broader consideration to your views?? We have been trying to sign players, two have knocked us back, another went to Turkey, and one is likely coming on loan next week. Acun and Tan have said signings will be mid August. Coincidence that Man City and Liverpool are in USA, Leicester are in German - all due back later next week/mid August. Clearly we are looking to pick up some exceptional youngsters (Philogene, Delap, Morton ring a bell?) Would you have preferred TW to say "sack pre-season, we don't have the squad I need and don't need to assess what we have"?? I doubt we will have more than 2 in by end of next week, maybe none. But we will have 10 in by the time the window closes. If those players are of the quality of Hughes, Miller, McAteer (or Delap, Philogene and Morton) I will be vonfident of a good season.
So you think we'll have 0 new signings in before the Bristol game and that doesn't bother you? You're happy to waste 3 or 4 games in the belief we'll sign a lot of players later this month... yeh it doesn't make sense to me. Rather be ready before the Bristol game tbh... call me old fashioned and unprogressive if you want to
Yes I do think and give broader consideration to my views. Why bother with high profile opponents and friendlies if we had no intention of making signings before late August? Why leave the squad perilously understaffed for the first 3-4 games of the season? We can't just throw points way.
Exactly, we generated funds by selling our 3 best players. No need to release decent squad players before we've brought any in. It's all backwards and frankly concerning
Assuming the 8 to 10 incomings don't all arrive on the last day of August, then the team and the bench will get progressively stronger as we move through each August game. Unless you had the previous expectation that we were going up as Champions, then having a weakened squad for the first four games will only be one of many factors that will dictate how we finish the season. Plus, I don't expect us to lose all four August games - (admittedly I don't expect us to win all 4 either).
