I think we have to be a bit careful. It may be that it’s difficult, owing to other factors involved. Troyes might want 2.5m to start with, but, is that all, when is it to be paid, are there any other payments due…. appearances, goals, promotion, offers to sell on etc. etc.
    These contracts are often complicated.
Nothing is ever what it seems.

Contracts can be done in double quick time as other Championship clubs have proved ...

... relegation, insolvency and being sold to a bunch of chancers is often a consequence.

Sunderland have shown they're wising up, buying right and selling on their terms.

Ross Stewart is the kind of deal we've always been involved in ...

... sadly with us as the buying club.

But hasn't signed for any? Does that say more about his attitude than his skill?

It's more likely me mate, what I say makes perfect sense in me heed <laugh>

What I'm saying is that some clubs just pay that £1m extra, give the player/agent a few more thousand extra and another year on the contract. That's irrelevant if you manage to scrape into the PL TV money but sign a dozen like that then fail and it can suddenly come back to bite you on both cheeks.

Sunderland used to be like that and we'd end up with players we hated, worth a fraction of what we'd paid and sitting in the reserves raking it in ...

... clubs, players and agents looked at us as a soft touch and laughed at us.

I feel like we're becoming untouchable now, we buy and sell on our terms these days.

Eh? What like chucking stuff about and ****? Surely that a wild rumour <laugh>. Madness if true and club are well shot.

Others have said parents are slagging the club, which says to me there is some bitterness about something as the club gets nothing but praise for stuff like the young lads these days!

Well we can’t lowball Troyes. Despite the troubles in France they a City Group club, they don’t need the money.

It could only be Sunderland having a deal for a striker stall because of a takeover
