I’d argue Sheff Utd are more of a basket case than us, an on/off takeover, PL relegation and best players yet to be sold.
We’ve been unlucky that our two striker options have gone elsewhere for geographical and family reasons but it happens. If they don’t want to be here then that’s fine, there will be other options. A lot of players go where the money is or for loanees where their parent club thinks they’ll develop best. We’ll be fine.
Thought it was very odd from the start when it was stated that he didn't want to leave. Surely the club should only be going after players that do want a move and are really excited by the prospect of joining us.
Hughes and Zambrano are the two I would most like to happen so hopefully the club can get them done. It's a disappointment to miss out on Assante and it probably means we won't have another striker in before the last pre-season game but I'll temper that disappointment until I know who we get instead. I also hoped the Liam Miller interest would develop quicker as we could really do with that. I'm a bit unsure about Mckenna, feels like a lot of money for someone that isn't the best fit for Tims style. I know he's a good player but kind of old school, just don't want it to turn in to another Fig situation but costing a lot more.
on twitter He’s from the midlands, he just didn’t want to move” “Good! We only want players that want to be here” “Acun and Tan have a plan” please log in to view this image
We're starting to look like a bit of a circus and this will make an already difficult job, even more difficult. We've agreed deals with five players, one has signed, another has signed but allegedly wants to leave, two have agreed deals and then ****ed off elsewhere and one will hopefully sign later today (as long as Karlsruher FC don't come in for him, as it will save him moving house). We need a couple of decent signings over the line in the next few days, just to stop the rot.
The Ecuadorian kid will end up at Norwich, Hughes at Burnley (so he doesn't have to move) and Millar at Leeds
Reaction of Coventry fans, seems a bit subdued about the player, but enjoying the gazumping more. ""Serves them right for snatching Philip Larkin from us." some wag wrote
It's not just about agreeing a deal with the player though is it? Other clubs will only sanction the deal if they are sure no one else will come in with a better late bid to gazump the potential buyers -which seems to have happened to us twice already. I'll believe it when the player has signed on the dotted line not before. This season is threatening to become a farce IMHO - although others seem to think things will be perfect come the end of August
