Thought Drameh player well. If we get a decent striker and a couple of wingers it should be fun to watch.
Enjoyed the second half after Seri was subbed and Omur came inside, Slater was motm, Mac was great, and Jacob and the new lad Drameh. We have the basis of half a side at least and no one booed Walterball. Poor form when ACF Fiorentina brought a pennant to exchange and we disrespected this tradition by not reciprocating?
The direct quotes from Liam in this article suggest there was more planning in the Pandur transfer than some make out. Describes him as "an outstanding athlete" and "brave". He also makes it clear he would need time to adapt which has proven the case so far, hence the need for another keeper. I don't think Allsop was the man but to leave it so late in the window to replace him is a massive oversight, particularly when it was clear he was leaving early on. https://www.hulldailymail.co.uk/spo...n=continue_reading_button#amp-readmore-target
Watch it again orange, how did they make it hard for him. Non of them even jumped with him, he was jones man, he was nowhere near him
Would be interested in Howden's assessment of Pandur after that. He knows more about GK positioning than me, but from what I saw Pandur's was awful.
Sinik was sat in the stands tonight with Coyle. I thought he was supposed to be only out for 10 to 12 days at the beginning of the Turkey trip? I wonder if he’ll still be in the squad come the end of August.
Their player with the 99 shirt number was brilliant to watch. I looked him up on transfer market. We can’t afford him.
And a DM to sniff out danger on transition. Otherwise this formation will be like trying to make a bucket out of mesh.
Said earlier what he's seen hasn't matched the coaching and scouting reports he's seen as of yet. I suspect that's his way of accepting he's sh1tter than Allsop without overtly admitting it.
From what I’ve seen he’s done ok, nothing spectacular. Is he better than Coyle? Early days but from what I’ve seen, no.
Technically he's probably got more raw ability than Coyle. Whether he brings the same leadership and will gladly get his face broken for the cause remains to be seen.Gotta be an upgrade on Christie last season though. I'm not worried about that position. Not anywhere near as concerning as the left. Thought Drameh made a solid case for himself for a first outing.
Im reserving judgement until we have a competent squad, but I thought we were poor tonight. For a manager known for his free flowing, attacking football, we created **** all. Hopefully that changes when reinforcements are brought in, as some passages of play are promising, they just seem to fizzle out. I did like the look of Drameh and thought Longman made a positive impact. On the other hand Jacob again struggled, oh and the corners are ****e
First half he struggled. Looked a different beast in the second. Wonder if someone got stuck into him at half time? Corners and set pieces - think that was the first direct free kick I can remember since Twine stuck one in pre January. As for corners, the one think I hope we do rectify this window is getting a centre half and no 9 who will get on the end of one or two. Oscar looks too placid and gets caught under the ball from static deliveries for me. We've generally been ineffective from set pieces and it could have been worth 6-9 points last season if we'd been a threat.
West concourse was it ? Wondered why me pal offered to get the beers in after the game. Usually a tightwad. Mystery solved.
Think NewcastleTiger made a point that we can't risk injury with the numbers we have. Not ideal, but might explain why we're half assed contesting headers and 50/50s in preseason.
Some good and some bad in that game. The first half was horrendous. Last half hour or so was pretty good. Shape wise, it seemed almost like a trial to see if we can play Walter's supposedly preferred 4-3-3 and get Seri in there. We might not see that again in a hurry because we were awful. Miles better with the half time sub and Ömür moving to a sort of free role again. Ömür's free kick was a beauty. Not sure if the keeper was at fault but it must've had some serious movement on it. Great to see because we know the quality he has and hopefully that'll give him a confidence boost that leads to more regular goals and assists. At 2-0 in the second half there were grumbles and moans as the ball went back to Pandur from our own corner. As I've said all along this was always going to happen from time to time, and convincing ourselves that it was just a Rosenior thing and would now be a thing of the past was only ever going to lead to disappointment. Likewise, creating absolutely nothing in the first half despite our new, fast attacking style. Reality is we'll struggle at times. It happened to Tim's Hamburg side as it does to every other side. We should be hardy enough to get over it and continue to back them vocally, not moan.
