My thoughts are that Celtic would be a really great loan move for Shea and a good step in his development
Incredible business from Saints especially if it allows to sign a player like Ghoddos ro cover Downes or possibly Camara? (Hijack Monacos bid) Also it's really pleasing that we look to sign another striker after BBD. Maybe Broja on loan could still be on the Agenda.
Loan would be a decent move. Although with Diaz incoming in we would only go for one more striker. Would Diaz, Broja, Stewart and Arma be enough?
I like Charles, but he didn’t get much game time in the championship even when Downes was out, so he’s not going to see much at all this season in the PL. Makes so much sense to loan him out if it means we get O’Riley and it creates space for that second DM that Martin actually trusts and can be an option. Charles then comes back with a full season of first team football under his belt, or puts himself in the shop window. Think he could do really well at Celtic. Everyone’s a winner.
I can’t find much on him playing central apart from attacking. So mostly a wide player. I would imagine we want Fraser over him and presumably not both
My guess is Charles has a sizeable sell on clause too, which would also apply to any loan fee. So to do it as part of a 'swap' would be very shrewd business all round if we can.
Charles to Celtic would be a great move for him as he would probably have more time to play the ball than in English football. He’s a decent player but my only question about him is how much time he needs to pick out a pass, which either led to a hurried, bad pass or him being dispossessed. As for covering Downes, the Echo reported that Ronnie Edwards played as a midfielder into his teens, before stepping back into a CB position. He’s good on the ball and can read the game, so could he potentially be the cover for Flynn?
Nope. We are in the premier league now. We can’t be screwing around with a key position on the pitch by sticking people there who haven’t really played there in professional football to a high level. Same with the Jack Stephens talk. It would take one game of him potentially being torn apart to expose the idea and damage a player’s confidence If he stepped back into CB despite everyone saying he really should be a little taller it suggests a limitation in his game in midfield that will be ruthlessly exposed at the top level
