Most places would, I think. But yeah, in the States I think that’s what they call “suicide by cop”.

There is always a danger in comparing the standards you expect here with the standards you see elsewhere.

There’s a far greater danger in kicking off against armed cops in just about any country in the world.

I think we can all agree on:

It's not clever to kick off
It's not clever to click off against armed Police
If you kick off, expect a bit in return to get you under control (which let's face it they WILL get you under control)
    Police have a tough job
You simply cannot stamp on anyone, especially if that person is now neutralised.
Stamping on someone (no matter how much they deserve it), once they are under control means you are as thuggy as the thug.

I can't condone the cop stamping on someone's head but you have to be ****ing stupid to attack armed officers, particularly in the vicinity of an airport. It's a high security area anyway so they were justified in using force to get them under control. The stamp was completely unwarranted however and I suspect came in a flash of anger after the attack on him and his colleagues. If you assault a cop, you can expect a certain degree of rough treatment in return, but don't stamp on someone's head.

GPs are voting on taking industrial action.
The plan is to work to the letter of their contracts, which will limit the number of patients they see per day to 25, considerably fewer than current levels, where some doctors are seeing between 40-50 patients per day.
Obviously this will lead to more people not being able to get timely appointments and treatment.
It seems that the GP surgeries also do work that is not included in their contracts so that would stop, presumably putting pressure on to hospital departments.
As they will not be ceasing to work, just abiding by their contracts, they don’t need to give 2 weeks notice of the action, so this could start as soon as Thursday.
In April, when doctors were polled on the Tory’s 1.9% increase to their funding, 99% rejected the offer. Apparently they only receive 30p per patient seen.
I can understand the anger and frustration but I hope they hold off from taking action until Labour have a proper chance to sort this out.
If not, it’s just another win for the Tories in their push to destroy the NHS and force people to go private, which seemingly costs around £45 for a consultation.

Junior doctors have been offered 22.3% to end their industrial action.
Don’t know the terms but early signs are that they will accept it.

We are regularly being told that people are living longer. It's obviously not good that these coffin dodgers are a drain on the public purse.
With that in mind the new Labour government have taken steps to reduce these hangers on by making the winter fuel payment means tested.
Didn't expect this from a socialist government but needs must and those freezing to death would probably have voted Conservative anyway. Also, it will quite likely free up a few houses for more deserving youngsters. Promising start from Rachel.

What sort of person walks into a young children's dance and yoga event and starts stabbing people.

    Lost for words.

Completely agree. The sooner they make Britain a real-life Logan's Run nation, the better it will be for everyone under, er, 30?

Please can we talk about this on the Goodhand Arms? By no stretch of the imagination does this constitute politics.

Means tested fuel allowance sounds perfectly fair to me. Socialists believe in evening out the cash, not giving everyone an easy ride.
