Probably won't mean a lot to most on here but just seen the sad news that Martin Phillipps of The Chills has died aged 61. I Bought the Kaleidoscope World LP on Creation back in the mid 80's and these were the stand out songs for me at least.

Day 1 of Rebellion - Dear diary, I have developed gout, despite not drinking alcohol for a year, seriously cutting back on red meat and seafood and not having a sugar rich diet.

This is an absolute ****er, as standing is extremely painful and walking is absolutely ****ing agony. I have naproxen and cocodamol to get me through...hopefully!!!

So far seen Pete Bentham & The Dinner Ladies, Ramonas, The Meffs and tonight, it's UK Subs, The Queers, TRB and The Warriors...if I can stand it (literally).

A friend persuaded me to go with him to see Segovia play in the late 70s , in Brent town hall which to me seemed a strange place , what a performance, the guitar concerto No1 in D and major and the concerto de Aranjuez opened my mind to an alternative to Rock music at the time .

You can see my head bobbing around, to the right of shot. I'm the tallest person there, black hair with a white streak in it, Mrs B to the right of me, with the ponytail.

These shots are just for you...

    ...and they were really good.

    Glad you enjoyed it.
I don’t know who the other band members are these days as The Queers are essentially Joseph P King (aka Joe Queer) plus a revolving door of auxiliary members. He usually plays lead guitar as well as singing vocals. He must be 65 now, but tours constantly. Their peak was the ‘90s when they were signed to Hopeless Records with the massively inferior Green Day. Love Songs For The ******ed, Pleasant Screams, Don’t Back Down, Move Back Home and Punk Rock Confidential are classic albums from that time. He’s a brilliant songwriter - a kind of Brian Wilson, but playing melodic pop songs in the style of the Ramones.

In a similar-ish vein, we also saw Rum Kicks, who we have seen before, last year, I think.

Again, very good, They made the main stage this time.

A different sort of cover ......LPs or Albums if you prefer, last weekend after a few weeks of moving untold boxes of ****e around my loft I was finally able to reacquaint myself with collection of 12" vinyl, and I have spent most evenings this week playing some of them, now I am not going to suggest that any of my favourite LPs are the greatest ever made or anything of the sort, just that they are great albums in my mind. The ones that you always come back too, where you know the next song and fit together perfectly, so I am going to indulge you all again with the covers of some of the albums that have been on my turntable again this week and played as they were meant to be from Track 1 side 1 to the final track on side 2, 4 or sometimes even 6!

These are in no formal order but It won't surprise anyone that this was the first one I played
