This is one of about 5 young players that signed at the same time and stayed in their countries. Don't the Pozzo's have a South American academy?
https://www.calcioudinese.it/2024/07/28/kayky-almeida-e-a-un-passo-dalludinese/ A report from Gianluca Di Marzio (mentioned by calcioudinese) suggests that it will be Udinese who sign Kayky Alemeida from Udinese and that they could subsequently loan him to Watford. Even Udinese fans suspect that this may be player trading. I am not sure what immediate benefit Watford will gain in the Championship from a 19 year old player who has played only one minute of senior football in Brazil (even though he has been training with the Brazil U-20 squad).
https://x.com/Tricolornewsffc/status/1817896705053876676 The Italian reports are contradicted by recent news from Brazil, which confirms the report by Adam Leventhal. Why are Watford signing Kayky Almeida on a 5 year contract and then lending him to Udinese? Is this to enable him to obtain a work permit? Watford are supposedly short of funds and this signing may be one for the future, but it will not help us to stay in the Championship this season. I hope that Wesley Hoedt does not sign for Trabzonspor, but stays one more year.
Understand Watford have just completed deal to sign Brazilian defender Kayky Almeida, medical also done today. 2005 born Brazilian talent will sign at Watford from Fluminense and then could be loaned out to Belgium.
Why not? It seems anyone can play for any country if they know the right people - Di Stefano played for Argentina, Spain and Colombia.
