Enjoyed the game. You can see offensively how he is trying to play but 2 things (a) we need strengthening in quality to make the style work and (b) the players have to be very very fit to make it effective. TWT on both counts
Got my grandaughter a pass for this season, she has been a couple of times already and enjoyed it. I’m looking forward to her improving her range of premium grade swearing
The style looks great in the buildup, the question is just whether we can do anything with all the times we work it up the pitch into good positions, same as it was last season. Walter seems a lot more interested in crosses than Rosenior was, I think getting better at those will play an important part in the success of the system.
Worst support ever? Maybe we just have other things to be doing in the height of summer than watching pointless friendlies with no team. Superfan FC that lot
Share a lot of the thoughts as everyone else - not as bad as it could have been, some positive points but some areas are a concern. The ever present Hull City refrain of “we need someone to score goals”. Coyle putting his body on the line right from the start - counted two shots stopped with his face and the potential injury to his shoulder region when he received treatment. There must be something in the Coyle brother genes to give them the ability to take a beating, anyone know if Rocco has it too? Can’t shake the thought that Acun has a new toy and lost a bit of interest in us. Which may not be an entirely bad thing if he lets Tan crack on, Tan seems to know what he’s doing. Maybe he’ll let Walter actually build something and not pull the rug from under him.
He was talking about where we were at exactly the same time last season. We had signed Delap on loan and Lokilo... Acun has said August 20 (is this when Prem teams submit their squad) will like last season see the biggest influx of new.
Worse support ever? Deluded super fan with a short memory view. Sid James Park, last game of the season, old div 2, Terry Dol*n days, Mighty Newcasle 1 Hull City 2. Attendance, under 10,000. Im more recent times perhaps the poster wasnt around then but he'd clearly forgotten when little Hull City, then bottom of the old 4th div on the back of 20 odd years of 5hite thrown at us, and of course never having won more than the 3rd div title in our history took over 6,000 to Sid James Park on a Tuseday night for a league cup game under Hateley. Plus we paid £25 a ticket in those days when it was £6 at Boothferry Park. As I remember the biggest away following seen there since a game v Brighton ? ( over to citizen)
Eddie Howe's comments.. "I think it was a good game," the Toon boss said. "I thought it was a tough game for us. We knew it was gonna be, I think, coming here, they're slightly ahead of us physically, but they're a very different team tactically to most that you see. "It was ideal for where we are at the moment. Hull play slightly differently, it's good to see something different. Full credit to their manager and their players for trying to implement that in a very short period of time so we had a couple of things to get to grips with and how they play out from the back. "There's a lot of interesting things from them and it took us probably 10 to 15 minutes to get to grips with it, even though we knew what to expect from them. I thought once we did, I thought the first half especially played very well and then the second half was difficult to judge. It was very, very bitty with all the changes. "The front three for us all looked good. Alex (Isak), Harvey (Barnes) and Jacob (Murphy) all looked good. There were several good moments from them. The second goal was really good. "Nick's save at a time when it's one nil and the game's in the balance, that's what he's done for us since he's been here. He's been a giant in goal for us and it was a magnificent save."
My player thoughts from the first 70mins for what they’re worth. Pandur - some good saves, one very good. I’m leaning towards ‘going to be better than Allsop’ Second goal was very soft, but him starting games is early days so let’s see how it goes. Jacob - poor day at the office. I liked him last season but was a weak link yesterday. McLoughlin - some nice touches. Not sure if the weakness down the left was him trying to cover for Jacob or it was a combination, not not too bad. Jones - Decent, with some great touches. Coyle - Warrior. Does what he does and does it well. Giles - Disappointing for me, but OK. Not sure if that’s me still having a hangover from his apparently lack of interest last season, and still being surprised about the price tag. Longman - I thought he’d improved since going on loan. Grafted, without much end product but against a well drilled defence. Omur - Looks very good to me and surely should have had a penalty. Even if it wasn’t he definitely put good defenders on their back foot. Simons - I thought he looked good. Solid display. Slater - Relatively quiet, but probably caused by the opposition. Estupinan - Best striker we’ve got and would have been really useful last season. Got into position for a couple of chances and will score goals this season I’m sure.
Great. Doesn't mean they need to throw insults around. People have family and other interests this time of year, holidays etc, when they spend 9 months a year watching football
Your players thoughts????? Well if you did play you were really anonymous I hate to say it den But then again I never saw you do anything wrong either ! I’ll give you A 6/10 But you need to step it up
Video from another ignorant gobby Geordie thinks they are gods gift to football and we will all rush to watch them. Thanks for the upload .
