Not being picky but Roberts should have probably scored that

Even in that goal you can see the rust I think. PR had to dig that out after a bad touch.

100%. Even Cirkin has had a good last 30 or so, especially going forward.

While Cirkin has been a bit up and down today, you can see how his energy and driving runs are gonna be so impactful for us this season. The way RLB wants to play should suit him really well.

    Yep, good goal

ironically it probably sums up the striker situation as well….mayenda was busting a gut to get on the end of it but just didn’t have that natural striker anticipation meaning he was just a smidge away from it…..it’ll come but not sure we can afford to let it develop as our first choice striker.

Yep, he has been a real threat towards the end of this game. We actually look really fit, most of their team have only played 45 minutes but we look the fitter team

Seems that way doesn’t it? Didn’t even look arsed when he scored that worldie, I’d still be lapping the pitch swinging my shirt now if I’d scored it

FT. Good work out and 90 in the legs for the majority of the lads.

Shame to hear that. Maybe not in a good place mentally but he's got to put the graft in. Don't give up lad.

More positives than negatives for me

    Positives
Clear style of play both in n out of possession, which is always a great sign imo
    We looked fit
Thought browne looked good, will be a huge player for us
Clarke n Hume were my stand outs
Neil looks really fit, looks like hes really learnt that CDM role
Our pressing is very aggressive, love it
Johnson did well when he came on, as did Rigg
Cirkin played 90 minutes, and got better as the game went on

    Negatives/improvement areas
Cirkin struggled defensively, and took about 60/70 minutes to grow into the game
When we started to struggle at start of 2md half we need to be more disciplined in possession. O9 tried forcing too many switched passes rather than jjst keeping the ball moving. Jobe started to drop too deep which isolated Mayenda, he has to learn to let the ball come to him more rather than dropping deep.
I thought Patterson looked a bit dodgy, 1 big error pushinv the freekick into a dangerous area and got caught in a crowd of players when coming fro crosses on a couple of occasions.

We know we need a striker so not including that in the above, mayenda put in a shift n some clever runs in behind but needs to learn the back to goal stuff - plus needs to move defenders about more

Enjoyed the game tho, great to get 90 in most of our key players legs as well

    Happy with that.

Can see what RLB is trying to do and you can see that the style and system is developing each time we step on the pitch. Browne was really good, his link up with Hume and Roberts was a joy to watch in the first half. Love Neil in the deeper role, probably the best player on the pitch. Mayenda has the tools to be a really good striker, just not right now. He is definitely ahead of Rusyn and Hemir in my pecking order though. Rigg is outstanding.

Definitely need a 9 and our set pieces, both attacking and defending, look questionable but they are the only negatives I can take.

Getting excited for the season now.
