If that's what you were told then if true then let's hope we've been alerted to someone better that has became available ala cirkin. I certainly would wait another week for this to happen personally. Think the management have realized this and are working on getting at least one decent striker in which I think they will do
on reflection & for your own sanity, you maybe should have said what you’ve just said first time around & saved yourself the trouble of three responses to get there
True. It is what it is though. It's not normal practice and would be strange for the player. Hence the term skulduggery. It's rather underhand. I think Fell defined the term, in which, I am very well aware of what it means. People then extended it too criminal dealings FFS Just hope we are not being too clever and get left with egg on our face.
I think we’re all scarred by this striker situation. Until we firmly have a functional one in place we’ll be twitchy.
If we choose to delay, there must be a good reason. If a more favourable option becomes available,we would be daft not to look at it. However, I do agree that if we delay, and then decide to go back to our first option, who then proves to be unavailable, that's bad management rather than skulduggery, and,if it means we don't sign a more than capable striker,is negligent. Sometimes the bird in the hand......time will tell. Skulduggery,in this sense, would only occur if we've promised a player a deal and then gone back on our word, and there's no evidence of that.
Even that's not skulduggery, it's just rescinding an offer. If a striker has come to the club and then not been signed, there's clearly a problem with some aspect of the deal for either one of the parties. Better everyone is honest about it. Suggesting that there is anything untoward about it is just another way to try and have a dig at the club or the people that run it.
they may well not be but we don’t struggle to sign a first team ready player for the other positions. Christ man it’s been two years people have been told to chill. No matter which side of the fence you are on, it’s not acceptable if we go into another season with the same “front line”. Obviously it isn’t deliberate, but it’s difficult without paying a premium. It’s a fine balance and Speakman needs to find that because he has had enough time now. Time for a rabbit out of the hat.
I'm looking at it that Mendy is our 2nd choice and we are holding out for our 1st choice, like we have in the past for Cirkin. No idea who it'll be like. I'm just taking the positive outlook, in that, Mendy is the profile of forward we are looking at, so if it's him then good. However if they're stringing him along waiting for there preferred choice, then it can only be a good thing. I've said it before but, I believe, the club are putting duff info out there so they can find the leaks. They're water tight these days and obviously don't like stuff getting out. There's also been no flight into Ponteland from anywhere near Normandy this week, so to say Mendy has been over for a medical, is imo, farfetched.
For years and years we have been taken to the cleaners by other clubs both for transfers in and transfers out , we are merely taking the right stance in taking our time before paying over the odds for players such as Mendy when there could be better options for the same money Caen are wanting us to pay . When it comes to players out the club in a lot of cases were sometimes glad to get rid just to save wages on substandard players due to the finances of the club , we now are in a much better place with a team of a much better calibre and we quite rightly can demand top dollar prices if we wanted to sell . Strikers are expensive to buy so we may have to sell a player to fund the purchase but we have to trust KLD and Speakman to make the right decisions to progress the team .
Definitely has a higher upside than mendy so would make sense, ten goals last season at 22 and scored a fair few for maribor when we first tried for him
Not saying this is happening, but the delay seems to have stemmed from the info that Stansfield is available as a permanent transfer. Maybe we are trying to negotiate a package with Fulham, similar to the Clark deal with Spurs. Smallish initial outlay, with large sell on, after all he scored in the Championship last year. I know its a long shot, but that would certainly get the supporters onside
Thinking that yesterday as one of the reasons for the Mendy delay. Clarke away so we have more money for a striker and other irons in the fire. ? Not that I want Clarke away . Report claims Sunderland are showing interest in Finnish u-21 international - Roker Report (sbnation.com) Could be anything with Mendy. ? Permit , structure of transfer payments even agents fees . There's always snags we don't here about. Give it time but I can see why some have the jitters.
If that's true it's no problem if we get him, sounds like a smart move and a very shrewd Sunderland signing. But if we end up missing out on him and piss Mendy off in the process, it's clownish behaviour. Fine line in these things unfortunately.
