I didn’t know that. I didn’t watch the match - only lifted this from the interweb. I’ve taken a bad ankle knock in a game before and played through it - albeit uncomfortably - and then spent the next 2 weeks not being able to get my foot in my shoe. Let’s hope it’s not too bad.
I’ve said this consistently now for about 3 years, if we keep buying players for tomorrow, the today will keep passing us by at best, at worst, we’ll not keep pace…. It’s good to have some young raw and hungry players, but we need some real English top 2 division experience, and we’re quite light on that in this squad for me…
There’s a reason why Bristol City hasn’t seen the top flight for more than 40 years - with its catchment area. Mismanagement. Since Alan Dicks, Gary and Lee Johnson took us the closest - but we still didn’t make it.
I can see no chance of us ever having the commitment to do better for the supporters who have paid to watch utter garbage for way too long. Based on the infrastructure and catchment area that surround Ashton Gate we have never had the commitment to grab it by the balls and say that we would so like to be the same as Brighton, Brentford, Southampton, Swansea and all the others that have been there, done that and got the tee-shirt into the bargain. Is it any wonder the likes of me are constantly moaning about the lot that our owners have placed around our necks without the merest thought that maybe we the supporters might know better and certainly deserve way better than they are prepared to offer? Going back to getting that tee-shirt I truly believe that we should already have at least 2 or 3 warming up the cupboard and who cares that we got relegated because at least we made the effort and enjoyed the ride.
Japanese Football @JapaneseFbl Good news for Japan and Bristol City, Yu Hirakawa’s injury has been described as mainly bruising and not too serious. Yu may return to #BristolCity soon, however a decision has not been made.

I think we need to seriously look at a proven backup for Max because we have rarely seen the second string play in a competitive situation. The midfield in all positions needs to be strengthened if only to put an end to this constant passing backwards to our goalie as it will always be an area prone to stupid mistakes, be it coming from poor passing or bad distribution decisions by Max when he is put under pressure. We have to give more thought to assembling a flexible squad capable of meeting most criteria that would allow us to be more of a high press team which then poses other questions as to whether we have enough of a goal scoring threat to fully use a different option in our play? From what I see with the players from last season and the new additions we are still not well rounded in that department but only time will show whether or not we have the players in place to get more goals than for many seasons. A midfield general is the term I would use as for what is needed most because if you look at the real contenders in any league they will almost always have a player on the pitch through whom the plays are controlled. Any ideas as to who that person might be and do we have him already on the squad or do we need to further our search to find that kind of player that is so important to the overall success of any team?
It also is starting to look as if the injury to our new Japanese signing could be worse that originally stated which could mean we have to look for someone to fill the spot that he was intended to take up, unless he was always regarded as a look and see player rather than a first team shoe-in. Good luck to him in his recovery and I look forward to better news on the situation regarding his ability to restart training.
Can’t see it being a midfielder other than a Twine player. I would suspect the midfield is sawn up with Bird and Knight in the middle. Bell left and Sykes right. With the rest made up with Williams, TGH, Mehmetti and Yu when he returns. Stokes and few others to challenge this season as well. Massive reviews on Pecover when he’s played. But maybe a bit young at the moment. Also Benerous got 20 minutes yesterday so hopefully injuries are in the past for him. Armstrong can also go wing if needed with Wells and Fally in the middle. LM has been clever with the preseason friendlies in having two teams playing more minutes than normal in two friendlies in either same day or day apart. Normally a friendly is one game and virtually two teams which is less minutes in their legs.
I think the midfield will be Joe Williams and 2/3 others. And what's happening with Twine, ffs we start Saturday week.

Middlesbrough & Bristol City in talks over Celtic target Tommy Conway https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/s...ristol-city-talks-celtic-target-tommy-conway/
I have a feeling that Tommy has got too big for his own boots which sometimes comes back and bite you in the backside. He is a talented young man who may be getting encouragement from the wrong people and many previous young players have fallen to the same kind of misinformation and their careers can quickly fall apart before their eyes. Tommy's days at Bristol City are numbered and I hope he doesn't regret his apparent bad treatment of his employer because he almost certainly would have been part of the City set-up for years to come, but he has chosen his own bed and now he must learn to live with that decision.
