But he has done something, he was very good at sheff wed last season that's why Rohl wanted him back so bad - stats wise probs not but football is a lot more than stats that's for sure
Poveda is a very talented footballer. I've always been impressed when I've seen him. He's skilfull and a bit spiky. However, his career doesn't quite reflect that. We have a record of taking players like that - Clarke and Roberts - and getting the best out of them. Hopefully, he's another one.
Mendy and Poveda is a good day. As I've said before, will have mixed emotions if Clarke leaves. Obviously its a massive hole but a) the money and increased spending power is great ; b) I'd be genuinely happy for the lad to get a shot at PL football and c) its great to show all our talent, as well as future talent, that we won't stand in their way if premier league clubs come calling at a reasonable price.
Outgoings I can see happening Embo jay Maete Anderson Clarke - could be soon if the clubs being touted as wanted him could see a bidding war Hemir - but on loan
He's been stuck behind the likes of Summerville at Leeds so always gone out on loan. Was good at Blackpool the season before last but it was a terrible team and they got relegated. Every time I've seen him I've been impressed and surprised he's not done more. My initial reaction to his signing was "meh" but the more I've thought about it, the better I think it is.
I think Roberts' ceiling is low so I wouldn't be all that sad to see him go, which is a bit of a shame. Just too inconsistent.
Squad taking shape nicely & doesn't look like its going to be a mad rush toward end of window, looking like we will be RTG start of season, maybe with couple additions at end of window
Just thinking there when Sheff Wed played us they had a back 3 with wing backs. They’ve already signed Jamal Lowe who can be play on the right aswell as Jan Valery who also plays down right and then the bloke who played there all season for them last year.. where would poveda even fit in unless as just a squad player?
Cheers mate. Not against it at all, club know what they want. I suppose on the face of it I see a similar type of player to what we already have based on what I have read on here. I would like to see something a little different in terms of player profile. For example, Mundle is direct and very quick, which gives us a different option. Pace is perhaps one thing we lack across our front line and that is still a big plus.
Just a gut feeling but I think Clarke might go in the next week or so. The Ipswich link seems pretty firm and they don't seem the kind to mess about once they land on a player. They missed out on Philogene and I think Clarke was their next stop. I reckon they'll go back and forth on offers and it will happen "behind closed doors" and then we'll suddenly find out we've accepted an offer.
I think you're right. I think that's why we are getting all of our business done now before clubs and agents know we are flush.
