Pep G being linked to England job. Since he can't buy all the best players, I wonder if he expects England to invade Brazil and Spain to claim more land. Or perhaps England could buy the town that Mbappe was born in.
He'd still inherit a decent set of players though. I'd love to see him take an average team and try to make them into title challengers on a fair budget.
I do think he's a good manager... Yes he's had nothing but the best to work with... But other managers have had similar advantages and failed to make it work. Jose obviously had cheat mode turned on a Chelsea but could only hold things together for two years. Manager after manager at United have had enormous budgets to work with but have struggled to make top 4. Funds do not guarantee results... And Pep has consistently got results.
not sure he would be as successful at International llevel as his teams are clearly coached to the nth degree in patterns of play and you don't have the time with international squads to make it second nature like he has at club level .
Nothing guaranteed. Certainly managers like Capello, Van Gaál, Klinsman, etc won lots of trophies at club level and never did as good at international level. I suspect Pep would do better than most of the names I'm seeing suggested to replace Southgate though... With obviously no guarantee of.success.
You can tell good managers as they’re able to come in and coach players in a system and style of play. Yes pep may be able to buy best players but Southgate shown that throwing 11 players onto pitch and giving them no idea how to play doesn’t always produce the best results.
Not sure which trophies you're referring to for Klinsmann (as a manager). But otherwise agree. In the same way that Southgate is probably a better international manager than a club one.
If you are gifted a country with literally hundreds of good players to choose from at the very top level then qualifying should be an absolute certainty. The fact Southgate has kept nearly everyone happy and wanting to turn up and play is imo his only achievement. The results have frankly been a flat track bully level of achievement But he got there by qualifying top of group and to go do that he need players having to want to play. AND THATS BEING POSITIVE ABIUT THE GUY. Imo he's actually held England back for the past 4 years. I think a lot of managers could win the games won and probably more comfortably.
It's going to be Potter. Nobody else wants it and he's made it clear he wants it. Who else are the FA going to get.
Woy Seriously, I think they'll repeat what they did before and appoint Lee Carsley (u21 coach promoted to seniors)
Breaking news - City fined £2m. ....for breaking PL rules 22 times over a two year period for delaying kick offs.
Wow, two whole million pounds! Sheikh Mansour will have to trim the budget... maybe only get two new custom built Rolls Royce this year then.
The fine is only for delaying kick offs 22 times. Not for all the cheating they have done with their funding
