We know he can head the ball and shoot with both feet as well as being mobile and strong ... ... if the coaches can't make a player of him I'll be very surprised. He can't expect a run in the team, immediately, but he has to make the most of his time on the pitch. Burstow was given far too much game time imo when Hemir should've played ... ... what a total waste of everyone's time that lad was.
i was impressed by Jobe over these last two games, he's looking like the rest has done him some good . Real competition in that midfield this year imo. We do have a squad for RLB to work with, and its getting stronger OaU.
If we bring two forwards in I can see Hemir getting loaned out. Mayenda is possibly ahead of him at this moment in time.
My grandad played old third division and was nicknamed Cannonball due to his powerful shooting, I never saw any footage because it was all late 50s early 60s but I imagine it was something like the Hemir goal.
The great thing about preseason with a new manager is that everyone gets a clean slate, all about performances. He might stay with the first team if he can do that a few more times.
I think the club (and in particular Mowbray) did a pretty poor job of handling Hemir last season. I'm not surprised if he's a bit deflated. Hopefully that goal - and his teammates reaction to it - will help him find his feet. Particularly loved Roberts'. He was bemused
One negative trait I saw from both Burstow and Hemir last season was that their heads dropped early if things didn't go there way, sometimes you'd see it after 20 minutes, I agree with your post but these lads have to have some fortitude also.
True. But the pressure on those four strikers last season was huge. They couldn't escape the opinions of the fans - that their failure was the reason why we were struggling - and their manager at the time didn't do a whole lot to protect them because he was making points for his own agenda. I don't really blame any of them wholly (KS, TM or the players themselves) but it ended up being a bad situation for any player to find their feet.
Ill tell you what, i definitely didn’t react as quick as the woman @Smug in Boots spotted. What a match that was, it was early days between me and the missus and this match was one of our first little dates. When we got near the stadium the mags were piling down the metro steps like filth running down a broken drainpipe. Us Mackems and them were firing all sorts of gestures and slogans towards each other . I tried to be a gentlemen and said we’ll walk right around and when I turned my wife to be was giving it double v’s and shouting. Thats when I knew she was the one.
Totally agree and it wasn’t helped by certain fans impatience and jeering his introduction onto the pitch at times. Being a Roker Ender you hear the worst of the worst and I was bemused at people around me screaming at him to press the Ipswich defence first game of the season when absolutely nobody else was pressing. Literally first game of the season he was written off by some, after scoring pretty much every pre-season game.
What a shame for Tommy though, scores a cracking goal that's now almost forgotten ... ... and what a tackle/pass from Hume to set that up, does he get an assist
Reminds me of when I took my girlfriend to Burnley for an away match in 1979. We were stood on the side terraces mixed with Burnley fans and I got into a bit of "friendly " banter with a Burnley fan. Suddenly I heard him shouting and when I looked round my girlfriend was kicking him because "he was arguing with you". I tried to explain it was only banter but she couldn't understand. Following year we were married and that fiery temper to defend "her family" is as strong as ever and this story is often brought up. Must be the true about redheads
Has not played well enough since Amad went back to Man U, to justify his place in the starting eleven imo.
When you can strike a ball with so little back lift, no need to wellie it at all imo. Not sure why , but that strike reminded me of a certain Claudio Marangoni.
