I think they'll be looking at a large dataset, but as I say, it can never be a perfect measure. It's a tool to support analytics, but comes with caveats which aren't always appreciated when used in lay terms. I think certain stats are overused nowadays and this would be an example of that
Giles at £4m on a probable 4 year deal only costs us £1m a season. Spreading Morton over 5 years would be a similar outlay
He was asked specifically at the notorious Q and A why the new contract only 4 months earlier and that's the explicit answer he gave. There was no misalignment in January, only after the investment and subsequent lack of progression.
this is why I would prefer the judgement of the manager/goalkeeping coach these statistics are better used for the potential acquisition of players but they still are nowhere near perfect (or even adequate) it's best to use scouts
That's correct, xGot usually higher than xG, but in some extreme cases it could be lower, for a example a shot that goes to middle of goal usually has lower xGot. xG includes this one, out of bounds shot, also shots that went to corners.
I got the impression that the style of play could have been justified by results. But if we're not getting the results then there's no justification for lack of attacking ambition. That seemed to be the gist of it for me, but then there's always a bit of a loss in translation meaning he was a bit more convoluted than that on the night.
Krunic was the reason Fener lost championship last year, not the player you remember from Milan. Crespo is OK though, and Zajc was good 2 years ago, who knows what happened to him last year, he was ousted.
Like Tickton , been going 60 plus years so sort of have a whatever will be will be attitude but for once am beginning to doubt the security of the club and what it’s current position is , I’m usually patient on this but this summer is beginning to worry me . It’s complicated , we got Tim , quite late , it took a while to lose Jake and Jaden etc and the Euros might have slowed things down . There’s not been masses of player movement anywhere , but we have a threadbare squad now . So all in all it appears a bit shaky , maybe anyone ITK lets us know anything positive - and those guessers and theorists can leave it alone for a while . Any sensible thoughts anyone ‘**** show ‘ doesn’t count until it does !
You've been going 60yrs and this summer is the one that makes you think the club isn't secure/worried about it's security.....come on if you've been going 60yrs you well know this doesn't even come into the same universe as were we have been before. And just to add some realism into things.... We didn't get tim late, he came quite early in the summer. It didn't take " a while to lose Jacob and Jaden, transfers with multiple clauses and different teams and agents involved take time and the club quite obviously wanted the best deal possible ( them leaving wasn't and isn't a surprise to the club ) And as you said yourself, the markets slow due to the euros and the points I mentioned earlier, yes the squad 100% needs adding to but again, as I said earlier we have only lost 1 player that we didn't already know was almost certainly going. There's stuff happening behind the scenes and the club ( quite rightly ) are keeping it quiet. If we're still in this situation come the close of the window then by all means be worried, but it's nowhere near the close of the window and we won't be finishing it in the situation. People really need to just relax a little
He said not, but then he had fewer tools at his disposal before Jan so maybe he exceeded expectations in terms of results and table up to Xmas/ new year. He also said had we got promoted then he'd have given Liam at least another year as the success would have justified the tactics. I suspect he had reservations about the style but as long as it was justified in terms of challenging he accepted it.
He seemed fed up. I suspect he realised it's not the healthiest place to spend a lot of time. I'm sure those that post here regularly feel an element of this too but it's difficult to resist checking the current state of things. Hope he's doing well!
Has anyone seen the lesser spotted Sinik? How's he getting on with his bunions? Another thing, when are we allowed to start panicking about transfers without being ridiculed?
I wouldn’t say ridiculed is the right word. But some people were going OTT and starting to not trust an owner who has done amazing things for our football club. I would say if there aren’t a few players in by 3rd August (friendly vs Reading), start to panic. I would imagine new players would need at least one practice game to gel a bit. Let’s not forget they will be getting match fit at their current clubs.
