I agree with Poly. Most players if get the chance to move to something higher they will. not saying as in a club but as in a higher league giving more spot light. International players also don't get picked from a Championship club or it's very unlikely. Still think Summerville or Willy aren't guaranteed to stay once someone comes a knocking and if it fits their needs you will see some unrest. Plus all these Rats that left on loan know they are Rats and if they came back they would get the backlash. Only one player I wanted back out of them all was Wober and touch wood that's on the agenda. I honestly think Aaronson would work in this league too. the guy needs another chance we were all raving about him when we got him and he started brightly and in the Prem. when he returns we have to be with him not against him. the lad needs a confidence boost he could become a good addition to our championship squad.
I'll be amazed if Wober is still here come September 1st, he was the biggest let down of the lot, the way he left us, he doesn't want to be here and I don't think he will be.
The Wober situation is a test of the 49ers. They passed the Gnonto test last summer. Wober is the next one. He can certainly play a higher standard than the Championship but he is under contract, does not have an exit clause and therefore the 49ers are in charge. They want around £12-15 million for him. If nobody comes with an offer like that then he should remain here. Let's see what he and the 49ers do. I've a feeling that Wober won't win this one. On a similar note, how do we think the 49ers have done since last summer? I'm fairly happy with how they are running the club. If a player leaves then we seem to hold out for a good price. The signings of Ampadu for £8 million, Gruev for £5 million, Kamara for £5 million and Bogle for £5 million have either proved or seem to be excellent signings for the cheap prices. Rodon for £10 million was a no brainer. They are slowly clearing the decks and replacing with quality over quantity.
I think they've still got a little way to go to get the club running as they want, the JKA debacle, the contract situation with others and youth team that's a few years away from producing first team prospects, even though Crew looks to have been promoted and perhaps Gray next year, hasn't been ideal for them, a few gaps still to plug. A think some fans are frustrated because the silence is deafening. They're here to make big bucks, they're not going to achieve that without spending first, as long as there's improvement no matter how long it takes , I'm happy to wait.
I agree. The way I look at it now though is that the club are in control. Last season the club got ****ed over. This season, in Wobers case, we have set his career back by him having to play in the Championship. For us though, he is a defender that should be playing higher than our level so it's us in control of him now. Best thing is, he has to play well to get out of this situation. So yeah, **** him but he work for us now. He has to do as he's told
I said at beginning of last season it would take three to five years to put the club straight after the Orta debacle. Still thinking the same and fans may have to wait till then for a team capable of pl survival
With the signing of Bogle and if Wober stays I think we look a lot stronger in defence than last season, though still not 100% sure on Meslier. I’m also not convinced Rothwell is an upgrade on Kamara but as things stand we should hopefully give it a good go for the top two.
Rothwell is a more forward thinking midfielder. Gets a handful of goals a season. Likes those long cross field balls like Kalvin used to do. Last season, Kamara, Gray, Ampadu and Gruev scored only 1 goal between them and that came in the play off. As for Meslier, imagine a back three of Wober, Struijk and Rodon flanked by Firpo and Bogle. Meslier won't have a save to make.
I’m quite happy with the transfer business so far. I would have preferred Archie to develop further here, but realised he would eventually move on if we didn’t get into the PL. On the incomings, they appear reasonable for the level we’re at. Obviously performances will dictate how successful they’ll be, but on paper they seem a decent fit. I’d personally like a LB (left footed), and another midfielder(preferably a no 10). On Wober and Aaronson, I’d preferred if they were permanently elsewhere - but if they’re here they’re Leeds (until they’re not). Think Wober will cope easily, unsure about Aaronson physically(he was as weak as piss year before last). Think there will be a few more outs, maybe another couple of ins. Personally I didn’t understand all the stuff on here, questioning the club based on social media crap. Glad the club have proved (imo)a few people wrong.
