Good Morning. It's Wednesday 17th July, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road Scroungers from Seville strike again Just when we thought we'd seen the last of Victor Orta's crippling loan clauses, another crazy plot is set to play out right in-front of our eyes! This time it involves attacking wing-back Junior Firpo, who may be trying to get his own back after being told he is not allowed to go to the Olympics with the Dominican Republic! Now, just several days later, we hear he plans see out his contract in the South of Spain! Similar to Rodrigo and Koch before him, the former Barca defender has a stipulation in his terms that allow him to spend his final season on loan wherever he likes - enter Real Betis into the equation! They have already claimed the services of Marc Roca and Diego Llorente for negligible fee's this Summer, and are now set to add Firpo to that list. I don't know who I'm more embarrassed for; Leeds for being taken for a ride more times than a London cabbie, or the scroungers from Seville with their begging bowl! please log in to view this image Are we going to have any players left Players are leaving thick and fast, and with only three weeks left until the new season kicks off, Leeds could be in a worse state than they were in this time last year! Roca, Llorente, Greenwood, Gyabi, Gray, Kamara, Cresswell, Cooper, Klaesson and Shackleton have already departed ER this Summer, and Firpo, Kristensen and possibly Gnonto are not far behind. Landing Rodon was a massive achievement, but Cairns and Rothwell will offer very little to our first team plans. We're desperately chasing Sheffield Utd's Jaiden Bogle, but as things stand (if Firpo leaves) Sam Byram will be our only recognised full back at the club! please log in to view this image Young Whites win in Scotland Leeds United's Under-18s and Under-21s both emerged victorious yesterday afternoon from their trip to Milngavie, East Dunbartonshire, home of Scottish Giants Rangers training ground. Whilst the U18’s coasted to a 3-0 win, Paco Gallardo’s team had a much harder challenge on their hands against Rangers ‘B’ squad. The only goal of the game came from 16yo England youth International Jacob Render, who had come on as a second half substitute. Whites shot-stopper Rory Mahady (only 17) had to be at his best to deny the 55 time Scottish Champions. The narrow victory was made even more satisfying, as he had been bought up through the Junior ranks at Celtic Park! Closer to home, the Senior squad had a behind the doors friendly against Michael Skubala's Lincoln City at Thorp Arch! please log in to view this image Leeds set crazy price for turncoat Leeds are in advanced talks with Eintracht Frankfurt, regarding the sale of turn-coat Rasmus Kristensen! The 27yo right-back was due to report back for pre-season training this Friday, having travelled with Denmark to the Euro’s (even though he didn’t play), but now it seems he may be off to the Bundesliga! It’s almost a year exactly since he turned his back on Leeds, joining Roma on a season long loan. He made 29 appearances (19 starts) for them last season, proving to many, that he may not be as bad as first thought, promting Leeds to hike the price up! Either Sky Sports Germany have got the decimal point in the wrong place or the Elland Road board have been on the sherry, with reports in the papers insisting that Leeds are asking for £12.6m. He has 3 years left on his contract and although his preferred position is right back, he can also play as a centre half. please log in to view this image
Morning all. It’s a shame our u18 and u21 squad now have to quarantine for a week having visited that place. Re firpo. Who can blame him. He has a year left on his contract. He’s at a club where most fans dislike him and blame him for anything negative that happens at the club. He has choice of Leeds or south of Spain for a year. Think I know where I’d be spending my year
You’re right. It’s a bit rich moaning at Firpo leaving when all everyone has done is complain how **** he is. That said I don’t think this was something that the club planned for. We need some players in fairly soon.
I think the club are doing very well disposing of the deadwood and never will be players. Firpo can go he is a terrible defender. Gnonto at 20 million is good business even with a 30% sell on clause leaves a profit of around 11 million. I am pretty sure the club will have players they wish to sign.
Morning all Hopefully we’re nearing a stage where all exits will be complete and we can start planning where the gaps need filling
Don’t think any club can say that until the transfer window shuts. Southampton lost players after the season started though at least they had the decency to play!! On that note, looking like Kristensen’s gone, any more rumours on Wober.
In total, including the likes of Povada, Bate and Perkins, we're getting close to 20 departures - so yes, it would be nice to stop selling
We’ve only lost two first team regulars from last season so far so it makes sense save on their wages if they’re not going to make it. The biggest disappointment for me was Sonny Perkins, he was literally on the verge of a first team call up at West Ham and the hammers fans I know were definitely unhappy he was sold. Don’t know if was his own issues that prevented him kicking on or an indictment on our development coaching staff?
Agreed and if Rothwell is considered a first team regular we are only one down (yes, the lad went back to Bournemouth that was on loan but he played so little I can't even remember his name!!). Got to see what happens with Aaronson, Wober and Kristenssen before worrying too much about first team strength. Go in hard for a couple of quality players now we have cleared so much of the unused out and the window will suddenly look excellent Most of those that have gone will never make it at Leeds and it clears room further down the chain to find out if the next batch of youngsters are good enough (set's up Eire for the easy tap in......)
Taking your point a little further, Aaronson SHOULD be a first team regular, so that's actually 2 in & 2 out! We have the same weaknesses as we had last season too, but we didn't do too badly last season. There's loads of time left for signings, & we're in for surprises, like every other season.
Previous seasons we would have called it deadwood as only Gray has left so far who we would have called a starter
Football Guru @Footballguru69 Dear Paraag and Angus, I post this in the full knowledge that you will likely never see this post, even less respond in any manner. I however feel obliged to do so, as you are two appointed representatives of Leeds United, one of the biggest football clubs in the world, a club with a global following of several hundred thousand members, fans, well-wishers and regular onlookers. Many of us are older, we remember the rollercoaster ride that has been the 70s, 80, 90s and on to this present day. Many are new to football and to Leeds United but their love and support for the club is no less valid, they are our future, your future. Within your following, there are rational football thinkers, philosophers, armchair experts, every category of person from casual result checker to fanatical supporter who breathes, eats, sleeps and dies Leeds United. A section of us are extremely pleased to have 49ers Enterprises investment group as our owners in this modern day, business orientated, footballing sphere and are prepared to have patience and understanding with the club. Nevertheless there is a growing disquiet within the Leeds United community. For my own part, I have followed the club since 1975 and personally feel that the club is very possibly in the best hands that it has been in during my 49 years of consciously following Leeds United. For that you have my thanks and also those the thanks of many that I speak to.However, we are not the majority. Your desire to work in the shadows as regards club policy and the transfer-market are understandable and to a large degree admirable. The last twelve months have been tumultuous, exhilarating, frustrating, littered with the highs and lows of being involved with a football club at this level, for you, for us, for Daniel and the players. Despite the disappointment of Wembley, the general feeling has been one of optimism for what the 24/25 season will bring. Though many of us understand the need to housekeep this summer, solidify the business and the reasoning for the large number of outgoings thus far, there is a very large and growing section of the Leeds United family that are worried. We are a family right ? When members of a family start to worry over an issue, senior members of that family have in my humble opinion a responsibility to address the root cause of the worry in a timely and rational manner. I urge you to read the room as it were, there has been and still is a very large amount of goodwill towards our ownership but the credit side of that goodwill balance is depreciating, rather swiftly for many, for some it has fully gone into the red. This is not a plea for transfer policy information, transparency around the business model/investment model or the composition of ownership equity. It is quite simply a request for better and more frequent communication as regards addressing worry and escalating resentment and the general state of play. Quite simply, talk to your family, we will listen, some will pick apart what you say and get even more irate, most of us however will not and would appreciate the gesture. Again, we fully understand that this is a business and that you represent businessmen, however it is in essence a family business, if that family unit functions well it strengthens the business. I urge you to not let small cracks in the tolerance and understanding that gels us together and propels us forward to develop into chasms and rifts that may be very hard to cross down the line. Kind Regards, the best of luck to all involved with Leeds United 24/25 and above all else ALAW. Football Guru
