It would be a good test with a full squad. Quite daunting to be facing them with Lokilo and Longman as two of our front 3.

The green sports mail where every kid could be a celebrity, every local game in there, I scored a length of the pitch goal that was in a write up of a game.. about 100 years ago. Remember it well, literally fell over the ball and into the net, me, ball and my pride…kept asking them to just leave me here, I was absolutely ****ed…mind I’d ran from our penalty spot…John sexton I think was the editor, every local match was in there, “ look mum my match in in the paper “lol

In its heyday, 60's/early 70's the sports mail editor was Jack Fluck and local lad Malcolm Richardson covered all the local football including darts, with results, reports and league tables. It took you all week end to read it and you could still go abck to it mid week and see stuff you'd missed. City reporter was the excellent Brian Taylor who started off under the name of Three Crowns. His match reports, straight from the ground via telephone were terrific and he caught the occasion expertly, often mentioning the 'South Stand Choir were in good voice' at the start of his reports. I was lucky enough to work alongside these fine fellows in the sports department when i left school and was there for a couple of years. Todays sports coverage and offerings would not have been acceptable for print in those days.

Might be reading too much into it, but interesting no McVities on that backdrop considering it was everywhere you looked last season. Still on the training kit but wonder if Murat Ulker has reduced his help slightly.

The new graphics on the social media posts are terrible, they've been brilliant up to now.
