But surely that still applies? Loan now and come back as a striker that scores. I just hope all the exits are part of Marti's plan rather than an unsettled camp.
I just hope it means that if 2 strikers that can't score are leaving , Marti has his eye on 1 that can !
Disappointed if Armstrong goes as, although he hasn't blown us away with performances to far, I think he has huge potential and just needs more experience. Willock seems to have no interest in staying, or desire to put 100% effort in, and so probably best he goes. Now if Dykes goes as well we are back to square one unless Martí has his eye on affordable replacements who can be bought in asap. Again, summer clear out and back to square one...and again, as I've said before, let's hope the recruitment plan is actually thought through and planned, not a last minute panic rush to get whoever is available.
Willock has already gone to Cardiff Dave. Hooray in my opinion. Armstrong has played over 60 times for us and scored 3 goals. Football isn’t his game. We extended his contract precisely in the hope we would get some cash for him. Good business if he goes. We won’t see much of him if he doesn’t. Dykes does a kind of job but it isn’t goal scorer. He has averaged one every five games for us but that is misleading as he is scoring fewer goals with every passing season. The forward department is where we are desperate for a refresh so clearing these out is would be a great start with 6 weeks of the window remaining.
Tis a shame if it happens and I think he’s been mis-managed by the club due to our lack of options but it sounds like his agent has been a nightmare throughout and for the paltry fee we’d accept it probably says a lot if that’s the level of club willing to take a punt on him. Everyone knows what he can do but he didn’t kick on at all last season but for the small chance he fulfils his potential it’s well worth a club taking him as a squad player. Whereas in Willock’s situation I’d have gone too I think this isn’t a great move for him. Then again I just find Bristol City an exceptionally dull club.
Now 100 pages of 'Summer Transfers' ......... Anyone would think we're a big spending club! Summary - Looks like some of our 'strikers' have been allowed to leave, can only surmise that the gaffer has his eyes on replacements. Fingers crossed, Our Man Marti will come thru with a good balance to kick us off into the new season. Let's face, to say we were doomed midway thru last season would be an understatement. Marti's results more than surprised us and has given us comfort and faith for the future. Hope the club can do their best to assist him. In Marti we trust.
Armstrong has some great qualities as a player and some serious deficiencies. Overall, I would be sad to lose him because he is young and I stubbornly hold on to the hope that, with the right coaching and experience, he might become a serious goal-scorer. However, easily overriding all that is the fact that he won't sign a new contract and has just one year to run on his existing contract. If he doesn't want to be with us, we should cash in whilst we can.
I still think Armstrong has huge potential. He was at his best last season against the better teams. But most of all he has great entertainment value, seems to get people out of their seats and probably attracts added numbers to games. I hope he stays, but if not then we should get decent compensation for him, strikers with his potential aren't normally available for a few thousands as the Club well know.
Bottom line lads. He won't sign a new contract...he goes for free next summer...so what's the point in sending him out on loan and hoping he comes back a striker. We sell him now...for a few pennies...and I hope a big sell on %.. And we move on
The only thing we'd miss with Armstrong is his pace but we saw much less of that in the latter stages of the season anyway. Its a shame a 3 goals in 60 odd games striker seems to believe he's can do better than us but on that basis definitely let him go.
For only £250k I would keep him for a year then let him go. We would have 3rd striker we like seeing occasionally, someone different from the other 2 and 12 months is a long time for things to change
Who the hell does he think he is, some kind of goal scoring superstar. Second division at best. Quicker the waste of space goes the better. I cannot fathom all the love for this so called footballer. Rugby player more like.
It depends on the sell on %. If he really clicks at Bristol and we have a 25% sell on fee, that 250k could turn into £2.5m quite quickly. If we get a sell on fee and free up wages for a decent striker, I'm happy to see him go.
