This is why West Ham bought him. To consistently produce 13+ direct goal contributions in a PL season is well worth the money they paid. The 14 contributions he got for them last season works out as just short of 25% for direct involvement in all the goals they scored in the PL (60) in 2023/24
This is absolutely fantastic news. He was brilliant last season. I haven’t seen the stats with/without him but must be a big diff.
I know Downes always seemed likely to happen but I'm thrilled we've got it over the line, particularly a month before the season starts. Going to be a big, big player for us. Provided we get him a personal chef.
Was always going to happen, glad it’s done before any pre season games though. Expect KWP to be off to West Ham in the next few days as well now. Still lots of work to be done to get this squad even close to PL level
If he broke it in front of the Saints fans at St Mary’s while wearing the West Ham shirt, I think out of the love I have for JWP I’d end up celebrating as if we’d scored ourselves
Tbh, the Euros passed me by, I so enjoyed our end of season, that was more than enough for my summer!! Seems like a good decision too.
