Everyone is open to criticism, but reaching 2 Euro finals is an achievement. He can be congratulated for that and his previous work with U21s. Southgate was one of our more successful managers…mustn’t forget that just because we didn’t get sprinkles with our cake.
Nice guy Southgate helped secure £2m deal for charitypublished at 12:09 12:09BREAKING Nick Mashiter BBC Sport football news reporter Former Crystal Palace captain Geoff Thomas has revealed how Gareth Southgate quietly helped secure a £2m partnership for Cure Leukaemia. Ex-England midfielder Thomas played with Southgate at Palace and the pair have remained friends. Thomas beat leukaemia after being diagnosed in 2003 and has helped raise millions to fight the disease as patron for Solihull-based charity Cure Leukaemia. On Sunday 15 riders completed the Tour de France route to raise £1m. Southgate has helped the charity when Thomas has asked and his former Selhurst Park team-mate believes it shows exactly the person he is. He said: "He stepped up when we were fighting to get a partnership with Deutsche Bank – which was worth around £2m – and helped us by just turning up and having dinner with some of their key players. It all makes a difference and it’s been a massive help for Cure Leukaemia. "Gareth has done messages for people for many years when I’ve asked him and he’s supported the guys doing the Tour when they are feeling down. Having the England manager sending them his best wishes means an awful lot. "He’s just a nice guy. He’s not your typical footballer, he’s not got an edge. He’s just a solid guy and wants to nurture the young players. "He takes a lot of joy from watching (Jude) Bellingham and (Phil) Foden coming through the system and maturing into the players they are now. "He has opened the England camp up to seeing the personalities of the players."
Holy f*ck, the Argentinian players on the team bus singing racist songs. What a scummy bunch. Imagine what their fans must be like.

Amazing, amazing, amazing news for my hometown club after years of suffering, winding up orders and unpaid staff, players and bills
https://twitter.com/TheSportsman/status/1814781201674043477 Ref gave a penalty. I’m calling it should be dead ball / drop ball and the ref is trying to cover for his own error
Nope, penalty is correct in law. If he denied a clear scoring opportunity he would also be red carded.
Only if it affects the play. But if a player deliberately uses the second ball to stop an opposing player it's effectively a foul.
That wasn't what happened in the England game the other week where England were attacking but were halted due to a second ball on the pitch.
"Joey Barton has been charged with making malicious communications." Horrid, horrid person, I expect he considers his posts as banter. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cgxqgxyv1kpo?
Is today’s Argentina v Morocco incident the longest time between a goal being awarded and VAR subsequently disallowing it yet?
