There was a time when we would be happy to have made £800k on a player. It goes to show how entitled some have become. It is amazing business for a player that is far from ready for Premier League football. £8M for us to spunk another punt that will only make us £8m once we sell him. I hate these owners.
Probably Tim doesn't see it as his place to comment on individuals (in the context of the questions being asked). He's the coach not the owner or CEO. Rightly imo he leaves those questions to Tan.
I don’t think I’ve seen anyone twisting what Tan is saying? Just pointing out that messaging coming out of the club isn’t always consistent nor what eventually happens. And that’s fine, it’s a business and Tan and Acun’s interviews are also sales pitches and pieces of negotiation with other clubs. But that does mean we shouldn’t take it all at face value.
I hate this culture of 'in the know' and people like Baz are the absolute worst. There was a time when a signing hit you like a right hook when you picked up the paper and the feeling you got seeing the news was amazing. I remember doing my paper round and reading the City pages all the way round excited that we had signed a young keeper from Man Utd I had never heard of. Now we are drip fed little snippets of info and when any signing is announced it is all a bit meh. We will never reverse it but I really do miss the times when a club could do its business and everyone got to find out at the same time. Created a bit of a buzz.
Baz’s unique position as pseudo-spokesperson doesn’t help. It’s evident Acun/Tan filter certain info through him and trying to weed through what’s good and what’s guff is often annoying.
£6m for someone who’s had 1 good season at this level… no thanks they’re cashing in as they don’t expect him to do it again
It must be a whole generation ago now since kids would get up to do a paper round before school, then walk to school!
Interesting to hear Tan’s comments about Walter “starting to understand Seri” sounds like he’s not as sold on him for the system he deploys which I think is very fair. He is an incredible talent but very much a luxury player, I think part of Rosie’s system problem was it insisted everything went through him
Keep it on topic or the emos will have an episode. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
I don't really know what you're on about. Lying would be a bit strong. I think he just gave the obviously right answers that you have to give when asked these questions, as any executive, owner or manager in that position would.
