I actually think you could be right, he will always struggle here due to perception, a move away is still the best option imo.
I do agree with this, but I also think it's easy for everyone to say these pleasant things about him in pre-season when everything is hypothetical. When we're into the thick of it in winter and we've just been shut out by Plymouth at home with Longman starting because the more skillful attacking players are injured, I can see people being far less generous just as when we've relied on him in the past.
Tbf hopefully he has got better with his loan away and the amount of games he's played in. We've progressed enough youngsters for other teams, it's about time someone else did it for us at a competitive level.
So you comment on people being hypothetical with easy comments but then end your post with your own hypothetical scenario......
I like longman But hes not going to be someone who gets you goals Good at creating space Wouldnt mind keeping him but also wouldnt mind if he left
He’d certainly do better in the supposed system we are going to play. He’d have much more space to get his shots off
HDM saying today that Philogene trained and ate separately from the rest of the squad while out in Istanbul. What a strange situation for him to go out there just to do that. Seems like us disciplining him but why?
I agree that he is worth keeping around the squad, I said that 12 months ago too. But I don’t agree that he won’t get us goals - when Dawson was in temporary charge and Longman was deployed up front he did really well. And before then he scored an absolute belter at Bournemouth in McCann’s last game. Longman probably didn’t fit with the patient possession heavy style preferred by Rosenior. But if Walterball is much more up-and-at-em, that is right up Longman’s strasse.
Do they? Makes the deal slightly more palatable, although either he makes it there and stays or they don't sell him for much above 18m i think.
Who's said that they'll have to give us 30% whenever they sell him? We'd never have got a 30% sell-on from Ipswich and at best they're just got to match the deal we agreed with them.
Most footballers here live out Dore and Totley way in Sheffield, from there to the stadium with no traffic you're looking at an hour and a half, getting to the training ground is prob a similar time. Doesn't take much to add an extra 15-30 mins with traffic at the wrong time of day. Meanwhile Sheffield U have moved their training ground to west Sheffield, like 5 mins from Dore. 5 days a week that's a hell of a lot of time saved, especially for people with young family
A new training ground, and the old one retained for their academy, how very novel. That'll never catch on, certainly not around here. The views expressed in my posts are not necessarily mine.
Irrelevant to us, maybe the players get a kick out of it. I bet Sincere Hall feels good about scoring a goal.
