Awful. We try to pass out the back, and don’t know how to pass through the lines so smash it to Kane with no one round him. Horrific.

Bellingham at the end was acting like some pillock who thought everybody else had let him down. He has been a big disappointment, got a great goal, but has not imposed himself on games and dictated things the way I thought, and hoped, he would.

For a team with the quality of ours to give up 65% possession is nowhere near good enough. We could do with a coach like that Tim Walter bloke.

Need to get Klopp in. Reckon he'd do it too. Far too radical for the FA though so it won't happen

We didn’t play well enough all tournament, luckily our fixtures could have been worse. We managed to get to a final without playing well, which can be seen as a good thing but other than a period against the Dutch we just didn’t spark into life. It was always going to catch up with us. We equilisedband that was our opportunity to have a spell of pressure, it didn’t happen

Change things around and start having a go only when you go a goal behind. I remember watching something similar quite recently. Looking on the bright side I had a nibble on Spain at 4/1 a few weeks ago.

Southgate is too negative so hopefully be gone tomorrow.
We might even get the new RB in tomorrow.

To be fair to Southgate after waiting all those years since 1966 to see us in an another final he has got us to 2. We didn’t qualify for World Cups in 1974 and 1978 or Euros in 1972 and 1976. A decade when there were few overseas players here but now we blame our lack of success on how many overseas players are here. My wife said tonight you are knocking a few back. As I said to her, at my age I don’t expect to see us in another final so I am going to enjoy it. So, as I said, thanks to GS for seeing us in 2 finals.

There are managers who had more success as players who did not do as well as Southgate in this tournament, Koeman, Deschamps…

That’s what happens when you employ a dullard as manager, another **** manager failing upwards, such a negative bastard, good riddance to the useless get.

Feels really odd that despite getting to the final, this tournament has felt like an anti climax, which is why I think Southgate has to step aside and give someone else a chance. If he stays on, he will just get a ridiculous and unjustified level of abuse every time England dont hammer a team.
Im quite a big Southgate fan for what he has achieved as our manager. He’s transformed the mentality of the team, made us difficult to beat, got us winning games at the death, winning penalty shootouts, all the stuff which we suffered from before he took over. But is Achilles heel has always been his pragmatism. We have a wealth of attacking options and they just need to be told to rip teams up and I think they can do.
I’m concerned about the alternatives though, don’t think Eddie Howe will take it at the mo. Graham Potter is an option, but he’s been out of management for over a year and he did talk a lot about his mental health when he was at Chelsea. Be8ng England manager is another level re the criticism you get, so there’s a question mark there (although I think he’s a great manager).
Otherwise, surely we are looking abroad? Looking at the odds, it’s a German or an Argentine. Imagine the abuse they would get as soon as we fail to win a game?
I would be happy to have a go. I’m a civil servant, so I’m used to getting slagged off by the nation. But at least I’d have the resources to succeed and would be paid a decent wage.

Well we both got away with it.

I think Southgate will call it a day now.

And, any truth in the rumour Kane won the golden zimmer frame?

    Yes it feels an anticlimax.
And that is a measure of just how far we've come.
Gareth Southgate is by far the most successful manager England has had since Sir Alf, and then it can be argued Alf was lucky in 66 and I can still taste the tears when he "a better squad" failed in1970.

From an appalling position , (any body remember Iceland England no hope no idea.)
The times we couldn't even qualify.
The times we couldn't win a knockout match.
Gareth Southgate has built a team, an ethos, an expectation to compete in finals.
Over World Cups and European Championships.

Not the manager who can change a game with substitutions?
He's done that in three games this tournament. His substitutions tonight weren't bad Palmer scored.

    Not tactically aware?
He's changed from a four at the back to three to somewhere where they can move between the two.

Has to let the hand brake off.
To go gung-ho at Spain would be football suicide.
We could have played and pressed higher but for 90minutes....really against this Spain.

    Watkins from the start?
Possibly but leaving out the captain and England's all time top scorer, a man who, if he gets a chance will probably score, doesn't really make a lot of sense. Kane had one shot blocked in tbe first half that looked bound for the bottom corner. Bringing on a fast mobile Watkins as a team tires isn't an awful plan.

    No left back?
Yes it would have felt more balanced in the early game. But Shaw has come back when he was needed and played well. The timing was impeccable i

Basically Southgate is a decent moral man who has made England a football team that players want to play for and a team that competes.

If its his decision to go then
Gareth it's been great. You've built something. You were just the perfect man for the job even if nobody knew it.

Can you Imagine if Sam Alardyce had stayed

Gareth stays then even better because we will compete at the next tournament
