Certainly not a publicity stunt. Two people dead, two gravely injured. As for the US being full of clowns- well, as a Brit living in the US I have watched with great horror and amazement what has happened in the UK during the last couple of decades. Talk about a clown show, and now you have a car full of clowns in charge because the ones that you just voted out were not clownish enough...
I could mention how pathetic the two candidates they managed to pick are out of a population of circa 300m but I won’t as they’re obviously the best two they could manage to find
Perhaps. But then I've been away from British humor for a few decades, and I certainly don't find this topic even vaguely humorous. The Democrats over here are constantly talking about Trump ending "Democracy" but seem to be doing a pretty good job of it on their own.
Yeah, the Brits have covered themselves in glory during the last several election cycles with their choice of leadership. There's no Maggie walking through that door... Trump at least wants to slow the suicide of the West, and you can't say that of too many of our "leaders" these days. Biden's a puppet, probably with Obama pulling the strings.
I'm from Ireland too. It just happens that I'm from the North, but I feel Irish as much as British, and I was treated really badly by the English (because I was Irish) in London when I attended Imperial College in the early 70s- that's partially why I ended up in Leeds.
Yorkshire was great. I loved everything about it. About the only thing I loved about London was the music scene... No, all the English were not alike, at least not in the 70s when my countrymen were "being uppity" (to borrow American parlance) in London. No "no blacks, no dogs, no Irish" signs in Leeds. I had a terrible time finding digs after the first year at Imperial once prospective landlords heard my accent.
We should start collecting conspiracy theories on this. I like the one that says Trump had a phial of blood in his hand and smashed it against his head when the shots missed him as intended.
It was certainly understandable that they thought the way they did, but equally understandable was my negative reaction to it. Anyway, no more from me on this topic. Back to Trump. The assassination attempt seems to have pushed a number of people who were on the fence into Trump's camp. The next election will be interesting. From election day to the victor being decided will likely be one of the most fascinating months in American political history.
