Enjoyed the Shields game, apart from the rain.
Positives for me were mainly the performances of Mayenda, Mundle, and Aouchiche and good to see Compton back from injury he did well too. Good to get to a match (even if it was a mis-match) before heading back to the States. :emoticon-0148-yes:
I never read too much into preseason games, unless we get battered of course.
I can never work out why some people do personally. Over the 40+ years watching us, I’ve seen poor pre seasons turn into excellent seasons, and vice versa. Also seen good to good and poor to poor. Just my opinion mind and jeans little but hey ho

That wasn't a strong team . . . . a 'makeshift' defence with only Onions a regular, a terrible midfield of Matete, Embo, slow-motion Jobe and Bennette, and Rusyn upfront (who also has never played for a good few months and is not a centre forward).
The only decent players were Patta, Onions & Jack . . . . the team for the 'Sheels match were much better balanced and they played as a team, whereas this one didn't know each other :emoticon-0112-wonde

Most importantly . . . . Reggie will have learned things from both games :emoticon-0148-yes:
I’d pick the best performers from both teams (and the benches) and make them the next team and tell the others it’s up to them to break into it through training harder. Too many lacklustre, couldn’t care, performances at the back end of last season which needs to be recalibrated asap. This is a great opportunity to do it.

Pembele Onien Alese Cirkin is a pretty strong defence

Morning chaps are there any interviews with RLB after the games. Interested to hear his take on things Only really managed to catch the scores yesterday but after the shields game actually quite glad the Gateshead game was tight. Think he will have learned a lot more from this than if we had two easy wins

I haven’t seen anything but instagram clips. Not even bothered that much it’s just about running time. Anything interesting in terms of positions/formations? Eg where did Jobe /Rigg play? 3 or 4 at the back? Or was it just a case of hoy people wherever for 55 minutes

Was at the shields game and I've seen roker report said we played 4231 but to me feel like it was more of a 433 Neil played deep and both Rigg and AA played as 8's pressed really high

Roberts and Rigg link up already looks natural
This is a great thing yo see. Roberts looked a top player when Amad was there. Irrespective of stats etc, he looked a top player. If he has that kind of relationship with another player, that can only be good for SAFC

Just putting things i to perspective a little bit, Hartlepool are currently 5-0 up at half time against South Shields.

Not sure what perspective that is? Are you suggesting that Hartlepool are as good as us? And would fare the same in our league?Pre season is exactly that. Friendly games to get miles in the legs playing football. Results mean nothing

No motive mate just mentioning a score line thats all. Dont be so defensive

Results in preseason are literally completely meaningless lol. The one possible exception being the final game before season starts.

Yeah Preston beat Liverpool the other day in Slots first ever game in charge. As fans though we cant help but feel disgruntled if a result doesnt go our way no matter the circumstances. Its just in our nature to want to see our team come out on top no matter when, where, who and why

I didn't really have a reason mate, its just what i decided to write at the time, nor did i think id have to explain myself to you 24 hours after posting it ffs.

Mate no need for the animosity. You said about perspective and I just wanted to know what you meant. Felt like a dig at the team and you know I often defend the team against that when I feel it’s unjustified. Sorry if I’ve upset you in any way. Totally unintentional
