He and Omur were most likely signed with that in mind, I've no doubt. Just hope the faith proves well placed. We have Ingram as well though, assuming he stays and he's solid enough for me.
The same Rosenior who tried to sign him in summer as confirmed by Pandur? Rosenior also had a zoom call with him? He didn’t think he was good enough with his feet to play, maybe if he thought the sake of Allsop with his hands we’d have broke into the top 6. Also I think you massively underestimate reputation in football, clubs, especially top clubs awareness of managers development of young players doesn’t stop domestically.
I was told how we are setting up for goal kicks today, and I think the responsibility put on the goalkeeper has significantly changed
Get it up to a target man who plays between the width of the 6 yard box? Wingers who look to cross not cut inside?
I think people should look back at the start of last season with where we started and ended up. Against Norwich the matchday squad consisted of Vaughan, Longman, Fleming, Simons and Christie. We ended up with players far exceeding them by the end of the window just a few weeks later which was strengthened upon in January. Things don’t look particularly rosey on the surface for now but I personally think that Acun and everyone’s favourite phrase at the minute ‘Brain Team’ have earned a little bit of credit in the bank and a bit of patience. If we’re in the **** come the day after deadline day then fair enough, but some of the hysteria on here 4 weeks out from the season and even further from the deadline is laughable.
No massive change in my feelings towards things as the only thing thats changed really is we didn't sign Kieffer Moore ffs. The chairman and management team are ambitious and we're fortunate to have that, however, what I would like is some assurances or actions to show that this type of situation doesn't arise again which is something myself and a few others foreseen a while ago and mentioned whilst some folk got carried away with the potential of a playoff push.
He clearly didn't want him or he'd have used him. When you're going for decent young players, the player will decide and I don't see how there can be any argument that our chances haven't been hurt by hiring an unknown gaffer. The full situation is a complete mess and it's a situation we shouldn't be in and one which is a bit of a head-scratcher how we are in.
To be fair i have just looked at the team we put out against Norwich in the first game, we could sort of put out a similar side ability wise now maybe not the depth on the bench..... Going to have an exciting time in the transfer window i do expect a few Germans to come in....
Because of how they run the club, we're going to get a decent rebuild every year. Everything is short term, so we'll always have a high turnover of players.
When you say ‘this type of situation’ what are you referring to? Baz’s reporting was obviously slightly ahead of where things where but the club had confidence it was done and he reported what he was told. By most accounts we were paying a fee that a parachute payment club, albeit one in a bit of ****, matched and we still bettered their offer in terms of wages and length of contract. We were beat largely due to something totally out of our hands. These things are going to happen. We’re not fishing in the pond that brought us Eaves and the like, we’re fishing in a much busier pond with big players involved too. We’re going to miss out on more publicly and I’m sure we’re missing out on them privately. But the fact we’re even trying is something we should relish, not bed wet about.
No the club decide first and that almost always depends on who's offering the most money, then once the club gives the green light the player can choose...but again that a lot of the time comes down to money and btw LRs reputation isn't all great with young players and clubs. His instant "over coaching" and analysing absolutely everything to n'th degree as opposed to letting players play, isn't as favourable with a fair few....
It's not really a headscratcher. They went all in last January when we were 6th, thinking we had a real chance of promotion. It's impacted our ffp for the coming year so they've decided to restructure completely and build over a couple of seasons. Expect a very different looking squad by the end of the window. And one that favours experience perhaps a little more than under the the previous coach.
Exactly that. At this point last season we were 5/6 players away from a decent starting XI. For now we’ve got Pandur, Giles, Coyle, Jones, Seri, Slater and Abdus who are all perfectly good players at this level. There will absolutely be additions before and after that first game.
In terms of loans yes but they can be much more considered about the permanents and make sure we don't have too many contracts expiring and players hanging around that we don't want. The bloated squad was a big part of the problem which clearly they made huge attempts to address, It's a huge job because its all at once but once we're through this phase things can be better so long as they are measured in who they bring in. From the interviews it sounds like there is a good communication between the manager and those recruiting.
Fair enough. I think this summer will address that somewhat and maybe that’s just a rose tinted view. I’d appreciate 7/8 signings of a permanent variety that would become the core that would be backed up by the loans and a few every summer.
