As someone who was 12 when England won our only (so far) major trophy, and who still vividly remembers that “some people are on the pitch… they think it’s all over.. IT IS NOW!!!” Kenneth Wolstenhome moment, I can’t wait to have THAT moment eclipsed on Sunday!
Fun fact: Seven years ago England beat Spain 5-2 in the u-17s World Cup final. Three of the players are in the 2024 squad (Foden, Guehi, Gallagher). Foden scored twice. And Guehi also got one.
Another fun fact: Last year England beat Spain 1-0 in the final of the u-21 European Championships. Cole Palmer and Anthony Gordon played (as well as our own THB of course).
Back in May, I think someone posed the question - Saints to win the playoff final or England to win the Euros. I can answer that today. How about both
Judging by my nerves you'd think it was. I keep telling myself to not get my hopes up but after desperately wanting England to just win a single trophy in my lifetime I can't help thinking about the feeling if we did win.
Whilst I can't see us winning it, it gives me hope that Portugal managed to beat favourites France in the 2016 final with 20% of their outfield players playing for Saints!
